chapter 48

"Jimin...."

Jimin's heart sunk in his chest and he backed off. His eyes widened and his hands trembling, as if he'd seen a ghost. He just kept staring at the door with no reply until Jungkook spoke again.

"I know you're in there, Jimin. Jimin...?"

No t-this can't be happening. Jimin shook his head and grabbed on either side of his temples. Trying to cover his ear, as if he was just imagining Jungkook's voice. He still felt that he was having hallucinations, like he usually does other times.

But little did he know that, it wasn't hallucinations this time and that the Jungkook that stood outside the door was his lover and the one who Jimin wanted to protect all this time.

~a few hours earlier~

"Jungkook!"

Jungkook flinched at the voice and quickly scrunched up the paper into a ball he was writing onto. Then he swopped in his pocket like he didn't want anyone see it. He turned his head and saw Hobi approaching him.

Hobi raised a brow watching Jungkook hide something. "what was that?" he asked darting his eyes to his pocket where he hide the paper ball.

"N-nothing..." Jungkook shrugged his shoulders and gave an innocent smile.

"Anyways..." hobi sighed. "I have something important to tell you. You remember Sangwon right? The one you and Jin hyung visited to last time."

Jungkook strolled his eyes around and nodded. "Yeah. What about him?"

"The forensics have informed us that they have found two samples of blood at the crime scene and that this was supposed to be a secret between Chief and them. They suspect the other sample to be of the killer's-"

Jungkook gulped at Hobi's words. "D-did they find out whose blood is it?"

"No." Hobi sighed as he placed his hand on his waist. That's the problem. And now I'm compelled to think that maybe Jin hyung's accident wasnt an accident afterall. And I think the killer is upto something else. I think we're gonna loose someone very soon Jungkook-"

Jungkook got on his feet abruptly, Hobi looking at him with a confused face. "My shift is over for today. I'll meet you tomorrow, Hobi bye."

With that Jungkook ran out of the cabin. He usually didn't react this way. It was kinda weird. Hobi his depressed his eyebrows and watched Jungkook. "Why is he acting this way as soon as I told him about the Sangwon's case?" he muttered to himself.

Hobi walked out of the cabin and called another officer. "Officer Choi. Do you know who was assigned to investigate the evidences for the Sangwon murder case?"

"Just a minute Officer Jung..." he said and started typing on his computer. "It was Officer Jeon. Chief appointed him himself," Offcier Choi could see Hobi's gasp a breath in response. "What's wrong Officer?"

"I-I think.." Hobi mumbled. "I think Jungkook is hiding something from us-"

"Jimin!" he shouted as he barged inside his apartment. As expected he wasn't there. Though it was late and that he should've been in his bed by now. He quickly pulled out his phone from his pocket and dialled him.
