She wrapped the blanket tighter around herself. There the girl was, blood dripping out of her eyes, arms broken and shoulders dislocated, staring right into Maeve's dark eyes. A storm was brewing above head and she felt her power electrify her veins in rage.

They will burn, she swore to the gods, they will burn in hell for what they are doing.

The girl couldn't be more than ten years old. Her black hair was matted in blood and her tan skin caked in dry blood. Somewhere from the side, someone threw up and Maeve could only hold onto her anger to not do the same.

"Have you given your consolidations to her family?" she asked Captain Wedriem in a low voice. She felt a drop of blood trickling down her calf, falling onto the cobblestone street. She ignored the pain from the glass in her legs and took a step towards the girl.

"She is an orphan, ma'am." The capital shuffled next to her as she continued to walk towards the girl. She ignored the curious stares of the other policemen.

"Have you informed the orphanage then?"

"It is being done as we speak."

Maeve nodded, "Good good." She crouched down and her hand grazed over the girl's forehead, brushing the strand of hair away from her eyes. She lost herself in those bottomless eyes. They seemed familiar but she couldn't place where she saw them.

Abruptly, Maeve stood up.

"I want a full report of what your forensics team comes up with, Captain. Is that clear?" Maeve turned around to dig holes into his eyes and he nodded slowly, glancing at Ryu in question.

"What she says, goes," Ryu responded to the unanswered question in his eyes, "do as she says."

She felt satisfied with the slight dip of his head and noticed the sky turning lighter with every passing second. "I'd suggest you cover up the body. Whether with an illusion or a blockade, it'll be morning soon."
