I've worn a mask for so long, I don't know who I am anymore. Quietly drowning like a broken song, into the wicked lands of lore.

"Explain, start to bottom

"Explain, start to bottom."

They'd taken a different room in the inn after Maeve had made sure Rheaghal would be able to function. Now, as they stood next to each other in the small room with a kitchen and supposed bathroom, Maeve couldn't help wondering which way things would take a turn. It was clear something was brewing under the surface and she was tired of not knowing what.

Axar noticed her had a hard exterior devoid of emotion. In some sense it was quite like her, but in the other, something about her mask was off. Like this place had brought out something cold. He couldn't tell what it was.

Visha handed her queen a cup of tea and then him one as well. The kitchen was small, barely enough to serve one person. But somehow, it all worked out.

"They're coming," she said, looking him dead in the eye. The flicker of red made him instantly understand what she was trying to say. Visha had an intricate history with the blood clan. She was a born rebel and over the period of time, he'd learn how she used her code of expressions.

But his spine still stiffened. The facade must be played, after all.

"Sorry?"

The general's cold smile had him on edge. "Asen told me about the dreams she's been having before I got the eye. I saw the dreams Maeve's been having recently—"

"Excuse me?" Maeve interjected, "as much as you're a trusted friend, I would like some privacy with my dreams."

Visha turned to her. "The Eye of Hoosej allows me to walk through a person's mind. How much I can see depends on the person. I could only see your past dreams, nothing else. Your mind is deeply fortified, far more than any person that I've seen...in a while. Though for General Asen it was a little bit easier to look through. Axar I haven't even tried because I don't want to know what's in that disgusting head of his."

He scoffed, unimpressed. "Thanks?"

"Past dreams or not, stay out of my head Visha," Maeve said sharply. He noticed the tone of fear that had managed to seep into her voice. From the glance he and Visha shared, she'd noticed it too.
