❛ 𝐐𝐔𝐈𝐂𝐊 𝐁𝐋𝐔𝐑𝐁 ❜

Twenty-three year old Maeve Silverbone is the next royal in line for the serpent throne. She's relentless, a perfect tracker, and one of the top warriors in her division; essential qualities to be queen of a race where there are only kings.

But three hours after her coronation, she's exiled for something she didn't do and proclaimed a disgrace of royal blood. It shouldn't come as a surprise since she's a ruler of snakes, however, Maeve isn't one to accept defeat so simply.

Trapped in a game of politics and war, Maeve must realize that there's more to this intricate web that meets the eye, and she must save her people from a growing danger before it's too late.

❛ 𝐄𝐗𝐂𝐄𝐑𝐏𝐓 ❜

She creeped through the dark, staring at the sleeping figure. He looked so different from when she last saw him. Stronger, leaner, and...a born king. Maeve eyed the crown on it's stand across the room and softly exhaled, her shoulders relaxing. An abrupt clank of her spear echoed through the dark room as his eyes flew open, wide awake.

Shit.

She was frozen as he stared at her, attempting to understand why she was here. Maeve knew she was equivalent to dead when those brown eyes lit up with primal rage.

"I'm not here for you," she softly said. The spear in her hand felt heavy as Drayce slowly got off the bed.

"Really," he asked with a rough voice, "Enlighten me, then." He grabbed his own spear before standing up to face her. "Why is the Queen of Raskinia here with a spear and the Mask of Delphi?"

And when he positioned his spear threateningly in front of her face, Maeve straightened, her own anger rising as she brought her weapon up to face off. She knew this was wrong, that he was blinded by false facts. But in her fury, she didn't care. All she wanted was revenge. To make him feel the same pain that he'd made her feel.

And somewhere in her dark, twisted, pathetic heart, Maeve knew, he wanted the same.
