One of the fasted ways to ruin a perfectly good morning is to taint it with school. I take a deep breath and sit beside Two bit, who for some unfathomable reason still insists on coming, he grins and cocks an eyebrow at the teacher.
"Two bit Matthews?" The teacher asks.
"Present and accounted for." Two bit says doing a salute. The teacher rolled her eyes. Two bit always made me grin no matter what mood I was in.
1 hour and 30 minuets later
The bell finally rang, now I see where they got the inspiration for saved by the bell. Two bit kept the teacher on her toes at all times, weather it was getting up and doing gymnastics in the middle of class or just keeping up a never ending stream of wise cracks.
We all darted out of there and went through our regular routine until that last bell rang, or as I call it: freedom.
I ran down to the DX with Two Bit and Pony and darted into the door.
"Soda?" I yell.
No reply
"Steve?"
Once again, no reply.
Two bit and Pony are grinning ear to ear.I see Soda slowly walking down the street with his hands in his pockets, grinning like the Cheshire Cat.
"Come with me, darlin. " he says holding out an outstretched hand.
I follow him and saw something I wasn't expecting at the end of an old dirt road about two minuets away from our house. It was a blue house with a full back yard.
I am speechless.
"Me and Steve did the building and Darry did the roofing and piping and installation and stuff. Pony and Johnny and Two Bit did the painting."
I hug him so tightly it's a wonder I didn't strangle him.
"Did I mention that I love you?" He asks.
"I love you so much Sodapop Curtis." I say, wiping tears out of my eyes."I love you too Mrs. Bree Curtis. " he says smiling widely.
