CHAPTER QUATRO

Maddie's POV:

We were moving into Mr and Mrs. Hemmings house today. I honestly didn't want to but I wanted my mom to be happy.

"Yes Andrew, please take this one too." My mom ordered him, and he did.

"I'll take this one--"

"No mom, I will. You just go inside." I told my mom grabbing the suitcase from her.

"Okay darling if anything happens you can call me, okay?" She said.

"Okay mom. Love you." Thank The Lord it was spring break, I didn't want to go to school.

Luke's girlfriend came, well, at least I think it was his girlfriend, came and picked up Luke. I saw her around school, I think her name was Lexi. She hung out with Luke a lot, and well, made me think of when we were friends.

Tonight my mom called me into her room, where I saw Andrew sitting there.

"Hello." I greeted.

"Hi sweetie, sit." He ordered.

"Okay, Kathy, Maddie, I wanted to talk to you, about something important." I looked down, listening.

"Well, Kathy, you know how you said you wanted Maddie married?"

"Yes, did you find someone?" My mother leaned in, excited to hear the news.

"Yes, I would like Maddie," and his last few words made me jump up, and look him straight in the eye "to marry my son, Luke."

Sure, Luke was hot and all, but he was definitely not husband material, at least not right now. And plus, did he even agree to Liz about this? Luke? I wasn't ready. But I also couldn't say anything because of my mom.

"D-did Liz approve of this? What about Luke?" My mother asked.

"I will handle that. Just tell me, are you okay with this relationship?"

"Are you okay with it, Maddie?"

"If your okay with it." I said, looking down.

"Yes, we are okay with it."

"Great. I will make sure everyone is ready, by around three weeks from now?"

Three weeks?! Were going to be married in three weeks?

"Yes, I guess I am okay with that." My mother really needs to learn to get married a lot later.

"Okay. Goodnight, girls." Andrew walked out like that, my face still in surprised position.

"Isn't this great? Now I can die in peace."

"Mother!"

"Oh yeah, sorry. I love you sweetie, goodnight."

And there, she slept.

Luke's POV:

I was in the study room texting Lexi, when dad came in.

"Hey dad." I said, putting my phone in my pocket.

"Hey son. I need to talk to you." I got up off of my chair, facing my dad. I could tell it was something important, because he looked really stressed.

"What's wrong, dad?"

"You have to marry Maddie."

I paused, looking at him straight in the eye. I wish this was a joke, but it wasn't.

"What the hell are you talking about?" I asked my dad, confused.

"Look...Katherine doesn't have much time. I went to the doctor and they said she has less than a month left to live. She says that she needs her daughter to be married. I grew up with that woman, Luke. I know that if I don't find her daughter a good husband, she will not be able to live, nor rest in peace. I gave her my word. I'm sorry."
