Maddie's POV:

"Hi Luke." Lexi walks over to us.

"Lex--" Luke starts to explain but Lexi's eyes go wide, not believing what was happening.

I mean, who could believe what was happening, this was happening four years later.

"Luke, what is this?" She asks, her eyes flickering to all of us.

I wrap my arm around Amber who was now in total confusion and I know it wouldn't be long before she would be asking questions.

"Look, I can explain--" Luke starts again, but Lexi interrupts.

"Do I really need an explanation? I already have all my answers." She folds her arms together and rolls her eyes, meeting Amber's.

"Hi dear, what's your name?" She leans on the table, Luke backing away from it.

"I'm Amber!" She smiles proudly. it was the first time someone asked her what her name was.

"Wow, nice name Amber!" Lexi smiles a fake smile.

"Just wait and see what happens, Hemmings." She threatens, and leaves.

"Lexi--" Luke tries to call for her, but it was too late considering she was probably already outside of the mall.

Luke's eyes flicker from the doors to me, and I don't know what to do but look down.

Lexi's POV:

No.

This could not be happening.

This is crazy. I'm dreaming.

I ounce myself to see if I am dreaming, but when I open my eyes, I'm outside of my car.

"Fuck!" I say. I get into the car and sob. I'm too angry to do anything, I don't even care if anything happens to me.

But then I realize. I should call Liz and tell her everything.

I pull out my phone and dial her number.

"Hello?" She picks up.

"Where are you? Are you enjoying right now? How could you be enjoying at a time like this?" The questions race into my mind with tears flowing down.

"Lexi? what happened dear?" She answers. What happened? something bad obviously happened if I'm crying.

"She's back Liz. She's back!" I yell through the phone.

"Who is back?! Calm down!" Her voice rises in tension.

"Maddie is back with her four year old child and is taking over Luke's life again!" I say, and Liz stops talking.

"I'm getting the first flight home honey, don't worry." and with that, she ends the call.

Maddie's POV:

We drive back home in a very awkward silence, although Luke is trying to answer all of Amber's questions while being a nervous wreck.

"Amber, please, be quiet and let daddy drive." I quietly say to her.

"But mommy, I just want to know why everyone is sad! I don't understand!" she frowns, as I glance up to Luke to find him glancing at me.

"Hey, Amber, if you want I can take you to the candy store. But you have to stop bugging mommy, okay?" Luke excuses me, and I blush at the cause of him trying to cover me.

As we arrive back home, I take a seat on the couch in the living room.

But then I hear a fiddle on the lock of the front door.

And to my surprise, it was the last person I wanted to see in this world.

Liz.

"Luke!" She yells, at the sight of me and my daughter.

"Luke!" She yells louder, causing Amber to shiver.

"M-mum?" Luke walks in, staring at her.

"What the hell?" Was the first thing Liz said when she saw her son.

That wasn't very nice.

"Mum, I-I can explain." He calms down.

"You better start because you have a lot of explaining to do," She looks at Amber, "Old man."

"They are here for a few days. I promise, everything will be okay."

Liz sighs, and makes her way to the couch I was sitting on, looking at me as if I was sitting in her seat, and waited.

"Yes?" I ask, looking straight in her eyes.

This time, I'm fighting back.

I've had enough of holding back.

"You sicken me." She moves to the seat across.

"Your not the only one, Liz." I mock her words, remembering that night she told me never to call her mum again.

She rolls her eyes, Amber looking confused as ever.

Luke makes his way over, sitting on the other side of the couch I was sitting on.

Until he changed the channel to some wedding, which of course, perked Amber up.

"Daddy, did you and mommy have the same kind of wedding?" Amber smiles at the bride on the television.

"Amber--"

"Yes we did. Why sweetheart?"

Me, Liz, and Amber look at Luke.

"I want to see your pictures! Can I see--"

"Amber, enough!" I say, putting my newspaper on the table.

"Yes, we do have pictures. Want to go find them with me?" Luke stands up, and I frown at him, not quite remembering me as the bride on T.V.

"Yes daddy!" She says, hopping away with her father.

"You taught your daughter well." Liz stands up and walks towards me.

"Of course, she is my daughter. She has lived with me for the past four years." I say, folding my arms together.

She chuckles. "You know...if you try anything, I can always kick you out of the house. In fact, Drake might even--" she starts, but I interrupt her.

"Excuse me. I have no interest in your son anymore, and I could care less about what he says or thinks about me. I don't love Luke like that anymore. He left me on the street because of you, and if I'm seeing him today it's because of my daughter," I lean forward so that Liz takes me seriously.

"And as for Drake," I look away. "I don't care about him or whatever he can do. I'm not that weak, old Maddie anymore. If there's anything in life I care about its Amber. You are a terrible mother, if you think about ruining your sons relationships."

Liz looks away, trying to hide her embarrassment. Inside she's embarrassed, but outside she's smirking like I said something funny.

But I was so, so damn serious.
