Kyzer's POV:

I sit at the hospital next to Isa with blood on my suit, my forehead resting in my hands, my head down as I think about what's just happened.

Isa rubs my back and whispers consoling words to me as I sit there. "She'll be okay. She's alright, Ky."

"Anything could happen in that operating room, Isa." I say back, my face now buried in my hands.

"I know. I know, Ky. Just... just stay positive, okay? I know that's hard, but just try." she says, rubbing my back.

Mom and Victor rush in minutes later and Victor snatches me up. "What the fuck?!" I say, pushing myself out of his grip.

"Ky!" Isa calls out to me, trying to calm the situation down.

He swings at me and I dodge it and I counter it with a punch in his face. He grabs his nose as it leaks and attempts another swing and Mom yells at him. "Victor! You stop it, right now! Don't you lay a hand on my son again, do you hear me?!" she says after slapping him.

"He got our kid shot, Lisa! I told you that bastard was dangerous!"

"Say another word and I'll shoot your fucking face off." I say, anger boiling in my eyes.

"You shut your fucking mouth, kid." he retorts.

Mom slaps him in the face again, a little harder this time, and he grabs his face. "I told you to stop! You don't want me to get violent! You are too old for this! You're arguing with a man whose basically a kid to you Victor, you look pathetic! And I swear by God, if you lay another hand on my son, you'll regret it. I could let him kill you in cold blood with his bare hands, Victor. Better yet, I could do it myself. Our daughter is in the hospital and this is what you're doing?" she says with a scoff.

"It's his fault!" Victor yells back.

"It's no one's fault." Isa interjects.

I look back at her as she stands.

She walks up to Victor and I try stopping her, but she removes her wrist from my grip to square up to him. "You are a pathetic excuse of a man. You're just a scared little boy who didn't get love from his daddy when he was a kid, so you take it out on your wife's son, who isn't of your own blood. You're weak. You're a bitchboy. I want that to sink in. Really think about that." she says, looking straight into his eyes.

He doesn't say anything, he just stands there, looking back at her until she walks away to go outside to get some air. I follow behind her after a minute or two and I stand next to her, loosening my tie a bit.

"Why'd you step in?" I ask.

"Because. I hate sons of bitches like that." she says.

"Obviously, but why?" I ask again.

She sighs. "I had a friend who had an abusive dad when she was younger. He'd abuse her little brother and I just.. it brought me back. I had the opportunity to stop it, so I did, that's all." she admits.

I look down at her for a moment, then I look in front of me. "Thanks. Even though I think I had it covered." I say, grinning, making her chuckle softly.

A frown paints onto my face as the situation hits me again. I put my head down and I sigh. I feel Isa's hand on my back as she rubs it softly.

"She's gonna be okay. I promise." she says.

"I hope so. I need to figure out who crashed that party. If they shot M'Kenna out of all people at that party, I have no doubt that they were there for me."

"For you? Wait, why?" she asks, turning to look at me.

"I don't know. I'm gonna do some research and probably go back to the scene when we're home. You're gonna stay there."

"What?! Are you crazy?!" she whispers loudly. "You're gonna get yourself killed!" she adds.

"Every day I have that risk. Anyway, I need to do this on my own." I say.

"Kyzer, you used to be alone, but you're not anymore." she says. "I'm here now. And I want to help you. So let me." she begs.

"I can't. I won't. I'm not putting your life in danger just to help me." I say.

"Ky, please? Please, just let me help you. I just... I don't want you getting... and then something... ugh, why do you do this to me?" she says, putting her face in her hands.

I close my eyes, and I try to fight the urge to say yes to her. I sigh and I grab her wrists as I look off regretting what I'm about to do. "What's wrong?" I ask.

"Nothing.." she says, looking down.

"Isa." I say, making her look up at me.

She sighs and looks off. "I just... as crazy as it seems, I have this sudden urge to want to protect you, and... be next to you through anything, and-and I just don't want anything happening to... you." she admits, wincing a little.

I look at her with a spark of admiration in my eyes and I smirk a little. I shake my thoughts away and I take a deep breath. "I get it. And I appreciate your concern. I'll let you come-just this once. Alright?" I say, giving in.

I can tell she wants to object to just this one time, but instead, she nods her head. "Okay. Thank you."

"Don't thank me." I say, giving her a smile. "We have to head home. Mom and Victor are gonna stay here with M'Kenna." I say, placing my hand on her back and walking back into the emergency room. "Mom." I call out to her.

"What's wrong honey?" she asks.

"Nothing. Me and Isa are gonna leave and analyze the scene, figure out who did this. I'm sure she wants to get out of that dress right about now." I say.

She chuckles and leaves a kiss on my head, then hugs Isa and kisses her cheek while hugging her tight. When she lets her go, we turn away and walk out of the ER.

As we walk side by side, I break the silence. "Thank you Isa. For helping M'Kenna. Things could've gone worse if you hadn't have found her when you did."

She smiles shyly and nods her head. "You're welcome. It's really nothing."

"It's something. That could've been serious. God knows I couldn't have seen her in the dark. She's so small and.... just thank you. It means a lot." I say.

"It's no problem." she says as I open her door for her to get in.
