I be sure to tie my hair up and out of the way for the journey to the island. I arm myself as well and by the time I finish making sure my boots are on good and tight it is time for the landing party to move out. Despite my hesitance to explore the island so late, my mentor Reepicheep is rather excited for the opportunity. He chatters the whole row to the island.

"Onward!" He exclaims cheerfully as we reach the shore of the island, "The thrill of the unknown lies ahead."

"Couldn't this have waited till the morning?" Eustace, who for some reason insisted on coming, asks.

Despite his annoying presence I agree with him, but I'm not going to tell the group that.

"There is no honor in turning away from adventure, lad," Reepicheep tells Eustace.

"Listen," Lucy stops everyone and that's when I realize the problem.

There's no noise. The island is completely silent. It's supposed to be occupied by hundreds, so how can it be so quiet?

"Where is everyone?" Lucy asks getting off the boat.

Caspian offers me his hand but I slap it away and get out perfectly fine myself.

"You're angry with me?" He asks more than states.

"I've got a bad feeling Caspian," I answer, "And I told you we should wait but you decided not to, so yes I'm a little annoyed."

"You're always annoyed Charlotte," he comments a smirk on his lips.

"Shush," I snap at him and keep one hand on the handle of my sword in case something or someone tries to ambush. I don't trust this. My eyes scan the wall. It's tall and looks somewhat sturdy. The ramps leading up to the gate are cracked but in reasonable shape. You can tell people have been living here but it is practically barren and empty right now. My eyes are drawn back behind me though due to the amount of splashing and noise happening. "Come on, jelly legs," Reepicheep offers Eustace, who is struggling to get out of the long boats.

"I'm capable of doing it myself," Eustace rejects Reep's offer. However, he is unstable and manages to fall hurting both his face and his pride. "Oof!" He grunts as he lands.

I hold back a laugh while Reepicheep just shakes his head. Eustace complains that no one is trying to help him but here is Reepicheep going out of his way to help but Eustace refuses it. That boy has a lot of pride. Maybe more than Peter had.

"And you're certain he's related by blood?" Caspian asks and the laugh escapes me.

It dries up though when I see Caspian draw his weapon out and everyone else is cautious of the silence that's blanketing this village. Just as I begin to get used to the quiet of the island, a loud bell tolls and rings through from my ears all the way to my bones. I jump just about ten feet into the air from the booming sound.

We all look at one another and ahead of us and everyone seems to have frozen in their spot. We stay cautious waiting and watching for some kind of attack. The only sound I hear is from when I draw my sword out, the deadly metal sliding free. I brace myself for some monster to come out or for a whole army of men coming at us with their own weapons, but as we continue to wait for something to happen, nothing does. Deciding it's safe to speak again Caspian breaks the silence.

"Reepicheep, stay here with Drinian's men and secure the place," Caspian orders, "We'll head on. If we don't come back by dawn, send a party."
