♟Charlotte
"Land ho!"
I look up at the crewmen who just sighted land and quickly rush to where Caspian, Drinian, and Edmund are. Drinian is already looking through his spyglass.
"Well?" I ask breathless from the run I had to make to get here. The last time this happened...it didn't go well for any of us.
"It looks uninhabited," Drinian informs handing the spyglass over to Caspian.
"But if the lords followed the mist east, they would have stopped here," Caspian explains.
"Could be a trap," Drinian warns.
"Or it could hold some answers," Edmund speaks up.
"Char?" Caspian asks looking down at me.
"I'll throw my vote towards the trap bit," I add, "The lord you found on the Lone Islands was crazy you said. Who's to say the others aren't as well. Especially if they think we are intruders or something," I explain.
"Well, what do you say Caspian?" Drinian asks Caspian.
He looks at me and almost frowns, "We'll spend the night on shore. Scour the island in the morning."
"Aye, your Majesty," Drinian nods and takes the golden scope from Caspian as he heads down the steps to give orders.
"If you are going to keep ignoring my counsel, then don't ask for it," I snap at Caspian as I rush to catch up with Drinian.
Edmund follows behind me, "Charlotte?" He asks.
I stop and turn around, "What?"
"Could I talk to you later?"
"As long as it's not about something weird," I say and try not to sound too excited about it.
While I was with Lucy and Gael, I told Lucy how I was feeling about her brother. She gave my the sister spiel and about what happened last time I got involved with Edmund, but then she told me she thinks Edmund might still like me too. She said she wasn't sure but I'll take that small chance over no chance. I've had a lot of thinking to do and even though Edmund and I haven't really spoken since that one night I can't get him out of my thoughts.
He comforted me, which was something Caspian wasn't really able to do. I've thought about Caspian too. Wondering if he started to like me but with his emotions and focus on this mission I can't tell if he does have any feelings for me. Do I even have an option to pursue either of these guys? It's very likely, knowing my personality, that they both probably hate me and are just being too nice to show it. I think about them both the whole ride into the bay.
It's not long until the ship gets into the bay where the beach is C-shaped. Most of the crew will remain on the ship while the rest of us will row to the beach.
It doesn't take long for all of us to find a time to be happy for once, but I can't bring myself to enjoy the festivities. I'm always jumpy and cautious now. I know Caspian is watching me to make sure I'm okay but I don't even know if I ever will be. I try to force myself to smile and be happy but it makes me feel worse when it comes time to sleep. The night sky and sea doesn't help anymore. Nothing does.
All of us are gathered around a brightly glowing and roaring fire. Everyone laughs, a few attempt to dance, and at one point some even start to sing old sailor songs. As the night goes on, several fall sleep. It's when there are only very few of us that Caspian comes over to me after talking with Drinian about something and sits next to me.
