If one more trumpet blew, I swear I would stomp through the castle halls screaming. The guest for the ball were starting to fill the halls and the noise of the trumpets announcing the arrivals of the guest were off tune and annoying, not that I would complain about the trumpets. Eldora was the one to complain, and I was the one to nod silently at anything. Lifting my head reluctantly from the warm sheets, I could see Sophia getting the supplies ready to make me look more like a princes and less like a ghost. I could see the blush and pins, ready to twist my white hair into a regular up-do. I could already feel the pull of pins, and not one had yet touched my scalp. I Knew I had to look fine though, or Eldora would not stop her moaning. She was so excited about the ball, and if I made any of her precious guests uncomfortable, I was to hide in my room.
This was fine by me, as I rather be in my room than socializing. All the men would be flaunting to Eldora, and ignoring me, if I was lucky. Alternatively, I could be nonchalantly looked at, speculatively at, and then sent to my room because the focus was shifting to me. I hated when that happened. If I had my way, I would sleep in the castle library, forever. Each book in that castle I could lose myself in, and forget that I was a shy freak with white hair and gray eyes.
Sophia had successfully managed to get me out of my bed, and I could not help but look forlorn from leaving it. Dressing in my favorite blue "fancy" dress, and letting me hair be done, I was now presentable to be stared at. Going through my familiar corridors, I made my way to the entrance hall. Already the noise of so many men made my head throb uncomfortably. I was always sensitive to sounds, and really anything for that matter.
Making my way done the last few steps, I managed to find myself close to a group of men, already with wine in their hands. With no signs from Eldora or my parents, I quickly skirted the group, and made it successfully to my hiding spot. After about five minutes, I found Eldora, surrounded by at least twelve men, and her handmaiden that looked extremely flustered. Turning to go, I was called over by Eldora, who wanted to "show her shy sister off". Knowing that I could not escape without some introductions, I made my way over to her. The first few names that flew from Eldora's mouth were instantly lost on me. Feeling helpless, my voice shrunk down to nothing, and I desperately had to get away. Eldora realized I still clung to her, and let me go so I could hide. I had done my part for the day. Hoping I would not be bothered until dinner, I went up to the library, ready to lose myself in someone else tales.
