I still had no opinion of my sister’s choices whatsoever.

If one more name came from Eldora’s lips, and this and that and other nonsense, I was just going to fall sleep. After our little “talk”, Eldora dragged me to the rose room, a simple private room where Eldora went when she needed to decide something. She was reading a list off of all the men she had invited, crossing those she knew were not her mystery lover from the past masquerade ball she went to. Her voice was starting to blur into all one sound. She had already passed Derek and Kenzie’s names; to my surprise, she did not cross their names off her list. This boredom was giving me too much room to think. I had drifted off in my head to tonight’s performance. I had argued between myself if I should play tonight, and my entire being screamed yes. I had vowed a long time ago to continue playing, no matter what. It took forever for me to strengthen my resolve, as I knew that every male who did not know of the myth of the moonlight haunting (what the servants took to calling my playing after awhile) then I would have many faces in the music room. I knew that most would not know me, and if I faked a headache, I could miss dinner. Mother, father, and even Eldora can deal with it. If as many men slip deep into their cups as last night, than my plan should work. I hope that anyways. A loud cough disturbed me from my thoughts, and I could see Eldora looking at me peevishly.

“Should I invite Ashton to stay longer or what?”

“Why would you, you seemed not interested in his company.” I tried to sound awake and focused, but the words came mumbling out. Sighing unhappily, and frankly annoyed, Eldora started to speak to me as if I had cloth in my ears.

“Because you like him, and since you never found an interest in anyone, I thought it nice of me to keep him on my list.” She smiled, happy and proud she was doing a favor for her strange younger sibling. I just stared at her as if she had just grown four heads, not answering. Noticing my expression, she shrugged and added Ashton’s name to the list. She continued to mumble to herself, and noting I had no reason to stay any longer, I quietly excused myself. Receiving an “alright see you later”, I moved out of the room. Sighing loudly at finally getting out of there, I ran into Derek and Kenzie, who were arguing furiously over clothes. Derek seemed annoyed, yelling loudly and rudely, well Kenzie’s face had turned red describing how the frills on his clothes were manly. I barely suppressed a laugh, coughing quietly to get them to notice me in the halls.

“Good evening gentlemen”

Both looked up quickly, while Kenzie blushed and Derek raised an eyebrow. (This was a feat in itself because his eyebrow soured to near his hairline.)

“Why miss, I did not see you there,” said Kenzie, as he tried to regain some of his composure, even though he looked extremely flustered. Derek just started chuckling at Kenzie, before turning his eyes on me.

“Do you think that Kenzie’s style of clothes look manly? Or mine, which are what I gentleman is supposed to wear.” Derek said this with as much composure as possible, even though it was completely random to ask to a woman in the middle of the hallway. Roaming my eyes over each of them, I took in their appearances. Kenzie had a frill around the collar, a slim dark blue jacket with long puffy sleeves, and pants that puffed slightly also, and was an off shade of green. Kenzie also had boots that sat just below the knee with a frill at the top. His cravat was as white as the frill, and hung several layers, four to be precise. Derek had a reddish brown jacket, tight dark brown pants that also ended at boots, but his came just above his kneecap. His vest had slightly adorned shoulders, with tassels at the end, and a white undershirt. His cravat was sloppily tied, and very simple. I had to say, that Kenzie’s appearance gave him a jolly sort of look, Derek’s outfit screamed bachelor, and was more effortless to prepare. Raising my eyes to each of their faces, I could also see them looking over my dress, with its stupid bows. Noticing I was done with my appraisal each jerked their faces up. Derek showed nothing more than a smirk while Kenzie blushed slightly.

“I have made my decision, and I have to say that Derek wins this argument, because he is in clothing suited for a bachelor.

“Aha!” Screamed Derek

“I was not done yet Derek, Let me continue. Kenzie does not have the sloppiness though, and is still in the height of more sophisticated fashion.” I tried to make my answer so neither would get offended.

“I knew it Kenzie! I was totally right! I am manlier in clothing styles!”

“No you’re not! She said I was more sophisticated! Were you just not listening to the whole last part of her decision?”

“Sophisticated does not equal manly, it just means you look all proper and nonsense!”

“Yes it does Derek, and you know it!”

By know their yelling hurt my ears, as each sound and yell bounced uncontrollably into my head. Maybe I actually did have a headache coming on. Placing one hand to support my aching brain, I saw Kenzie look over at me, his eyes filling with shock before he punched Derek slightly in the arm.

“OUCH!”

“Shush it Derek for a moment! Do you see that Miss Luna is getting a headache over your insistent and annoying shouting?”

“My shouting was annoying! You were yelling as much as I was!” Derek said accusingly, looking at Kenzie flabbergasted as he blamed Derek for being the only one to make a fuss. Kenzie did not respond, and Derek crossed his arms and looked grumpily at the wall, seeming interested in the wallpaper. I ignored Derek, because he was just acting like a child.

“You can just call me Luna Kenzie, you too Derek. We are already on first name terms as it is.” Kenzie just nodded, and Derek glanced at my before turning his eyes back onto the wallpaper.

“You people are loud, aren’t you?” I turned to se Eldora in the doorway, holding her list, seeming mildly interested in the two men standing outside the door. When she noticed me, her mouth formed an O, before recovering quickly and raising her eyebrow in question. (Not as impressive as Derek’s eyebrow raise was.)

“I do not think myself that loud Miss.” Kenzie stuttered, with as much poise as an elephant. Derek just snorted, not interested in Eldora, which made me less annoyed with him. Kenzie on the other hand looked like a blubbering fool, and he started to shake his blonde curls back and forth. I noticed where this was going, and looping my arm through Derek’s, I suggested if he wished to go to the garden with me.

“You have a garden?” he seemed amazed, looking at me fully since Kenzie blamed him for shouting.

“Yes, we do. I know you want to see the garden. Let’s leave Kenzie to escort Eldora to wherever she wishes hmm?” Eldora just stared at me, while Kenzie looked like I had just given him the best present in the world.

“I would be happy to take you wherever you wish, Miss.” Smiling slightly at Kenzie and Eldora, I moved with Derek, who bounced slightly on his feet. I sincerely hoped we did not get blown away going to the garden.

Okay, who do you think is manlier? Kenzie or Derek?

I have been trying really hard to get this story moving, and sorry that my chapters are short. I kinda have a short attention span. Any suggestions at all would help. This chapter is edited, along with my other chapters. I hope to be getting to the first full moon soon in the story, because that chapter is going to be epic!
