Right after the ball, at night
The change
Thud-Thud-Thud-Thud
If my heart beat any louder, I would explode. My head was ringing, muscles burning, and eyes blurry. What was happening to me? I had been jolted awake, my heart beating, muscles straining. My dreams disappeared into the recess of my brain, were the fog was ever growing.
Without my permission, I felt myself rise. My clumsy feet did push me out of the room, my hands fumbling with the knob. I raced down the hall, needing the air of outside. My thought process was non-existent, as I ran with the urges pulsing through my quivering figure.
I burst through the back doors, ignoring the howling wind as it pushed against me. I ran to the forest, cutting across the paths, swerving through trees, until I came to a small clearing. There was something oddly familiar about the clearing, but the fog in my brain refused to dissipate.
I raised my head, my eyes focusing just long enough to catch sight of the full moon, the second one this month. My eyes widened at it in glory, the gleam bathing in the leaves moonlight.
Its then I heard the first crack. I fell on the ground in pain, watching as my fingers broke, the bones mending in different directions. I screamed silently in pain, my body thundering with the pulses. I felt jabbing, ribs collapsing. My arms twisted back, then forward, dislocating from my shoulder blade. I crouched, my spin tingling, rising. My scalp set on fire, which started with my head and then the flames traveled down, burning my twisting skin. I heard the rip of my chemise, cloth hanging down. My nose broke, jaw extended. My vision blurred, and then I fainted.
Wake up! HEELLLOOO! Will you move your furry ass and pay attention here?
That voice! I know that voice! I opened my eyes wearily, searching. The last I could remember was pain, an all-consuming pain that was pure torment. Now I felt peaceful, if not excited. I moved forward, but my usual graceful stepping was now the stepping four legs. Looking down, I saw paws, hairy and colored silver and white. I at first started to wonder what kind of drug I was on, until that same voice rocked through my head, loud and persistent.
We are definitely not on drugs. Those paws are belong to you, god dammit. Can’t you tell?
It was then that I flipped, jumping around like a dear.
No! What am I! How, How did I become this creature!
You are a werewolf Luna, and I am your wolf, Niva. I have talked to you before, which is rare. I was not yet manifested as you, so our connection was weak. Yet you named me, and accepted me for a part of you. Now that our transformation is complete, the moon will no longer have a pulling effect. The pull was a beginning for this day.
I had started to calm down. Niva was a part of me and I knew that. I had stopped freaking out, and started moving around. The moves of a wolf were easy. The night still was in effect, and as long as I did not meet any trouble, I wanted to run. Niva purred with me, and I laughed at the sound. Most people would not accept this easily, but it was the spur of the moment to me. Being a wolf felt a part of me.
I think I found what I was missing.
I ran, my movements changing from newborn to adult. I let Niva gain some control, as she explained that she could keep me going for hours. I was dodging trees and bushes, heading to nowhere, but I had the urge to see what I looked like.
I came upon a lake, its waters glowing from moonlight. Walking up I went to get a drink, and my face astonished me. I had silver fur, with grey and white stripes through it. My face was almost completely white, and even looked a little blue. My eyes were purple, with grey and green streaks.
