Recap:
Now that I was presentable, I was off to find my mother.
--------------------------------------------------------
Niva was the most annoying wolf in the universe.
Besides her constant yapping, she had now manifested as an actual wolf in my head, and I could see her shifting in my head, her silver fur and purple eyes happy and curious.
Her voice went a million miles a minute, switching off to how amazing she was, to what I was about to ask my mother. She even veered off to the topic of Kaeden (Ashton’s Wolf), and how magnificent his hind-corners looked. In all she was giving me a pressure headache that throbbed at every sound of her voice.
Niva! For the love of all things holy, shush!
Kaeden running stirs my blood to a hot boil. Moreover, his fur in the sun, wow, I could get lost in the colors.
Nivaaaa, I get it, you like how Kaeden looks, now please let me think! I have to ask about whom I am; see if my mom can come clean to me.
It was amazing that Niva stopped talking, and when I breathed my sigh of relief, she started again.
Have you thought much about the powers you now know of, your astral projection? You know what would be fun, if I could project myself from you, and you could be awake as I run around. It would be a perfect solution when you are doing some boring human things, like talking. Oh, and if I could make people see me, and run around! They would so faint!
NIVA ENOUGH!
I heard a small sigh from her, and knew the rejection she felt. I agreed that if she could project herself from me that would be helpful, but the insistent chatter was killing me. I had to be calm and collected talking to my mother, not bombarded with talk from Niva.
Staying silent, I went onward to my mother’s chamber. I had sent a servant ahead of me, to prepare my mother for my arrival. I had always felt an underlining disapproval radiating when I was near, and now that I knew of my parental heritage, I could understand why.
She thought me a monster, but could not throw her daughter out on the streets without a reason. I wonder what she thought that I was now the being she feared the most.
My thoughts eased as I came upon my mother’s ornamented door. This door had always frightened me, my mother being an impressive figure when she wished to be. Today I knew that this was going to be different, as I was no longer the weak child. I was a werewolf.
I knocked politely, hearing my mother answer from the other side. Entering the lounge, she sat at a table with a tea set already spread out. The table took much of the rather small room, with the tablecloth edged in flowery lace. My mother was wearing a light purple dress with golden beads hanging from the top of her shoulders, making a sort of strap. The rest was rather simple, and she sat upright in a sitting position.
I moved fluently in, not shrinking into my being like usual. I curtsied when I came to the table, and took a seat. A servant appeared from nowhere, pouring my mother and I a cup of tea, and then was dismissed by my mother. I took the first sip, making sure not to spill a drop. My mother fidgeted in her seat, aware of my change in behavior.
I wondered where I should start, but I needed a way to get on to the topic of Gabriel. Oh well, here goes nothing.
“It is great to see you mother. We have not spoken in such a long time. I thought to have us sit down and talk to rekindle our relationship, which I feared has deteriorated lately. It was my birthday yesterday evening. You did not make any mention of it, and came today to see if you have remembered.”
