Luna's POV
Even if my physical body was tired, my astral self was ready to go. I stood in my astral form beside the bed, my sleeping body next to me. I thought it a good time to check on Eldora.
I thought of Eldora’s room, the heavy tapestries and the fine bed, with sunlight streaming in the curtains. My new room melted, the forest swishing by me as I traveled, until I went through the castles walls to Eldora’s room.
She was pacing, Paige sitting worried on Eldora’s chair in front of her vanity. I needed Paige out of the room so I could talk to Eldora alone. I made my voice to Eldora loud enough so she could hear me, and Paige could not.
“Eldora, I need to speak to you, alone. Can you send Paige away?”
She jerked in her movements, her eyes wide and starring. She looked around, Paige stood, nervous of her lady’s actions.
“What’s wrong Eldora?” said Paige anxiously. Eldora rubbed her eyes, her pristine self more frazzled then I have ever seen her.
“Paige, I need a moment to think, alone. Do you mind leaving?”
Paige nodded worriedly before leaving, her departure marked by the swish of skirts.
“Alright Luna, I know your around here! Come out! I am not hallucinating!” screeched Eldora helplessly, looking mad herself.
I focused my energy, making sure she could see me, I sat on the bed, and the covers rustling as I sat. If I had not solidified, I would have fallen through the bed.
“Eldora, I’m right here.”
Eldora whipped around, before jumping at me, encompassing me into a hug. I could feel the silent tears running down her cheek, her body shivering. I squeezed her tightly with my arms, burying my head into her golden mane of hair.
“What is wrong Eldora? What is going on? Why are you so fatigued?”
“It is awful Luna! Mother has gone more distant, if not receded into a shell. She just does not do anything, as if she has given up. Father is calling as many knights into the castle, as whispers about ravenous wolves spread through the men like wildfire. He plans to find where you are Luna, mother told him about what you are and he is furious as hell. He is going to kill them all, every one of them. And mother did not even react! Your true father is there, and she did not care that he was going to kill him too! I have been locked in my room for days, once father heard I was downplaying the rumors he...”
A knock at the door ended Eldora’s sad tale, and I dissolved, disappearing. Eldora gasped as I disappeared, but whispered to her to let the person outside in.
“Eldora! Your mother had insisted that she went with the men! She is going with the men to the wolves’ domain!” rushed a tired Sophia. She seemed to have aged by 20 years, and I solidified again, making sure to be blocked by Eldora’s body.
“We must tell Luna! How though? She is so far into the mountains, it would take days for us to reach them, and the men would notice.”
“Why don’t you tell me then?” I asked. Moving around Eldora’s form, Sophia gasped, rushing to hug me.
“How, what, why are you here Luna! Aren’t you supposed to be far away?” Sophia rushed in confusion, her eyes worried as I smiled at her.
“Very good question Sophia, how did you get here Luna? One minute I was pacing with Paige giving unhelpful suggestions, then poof you were here!”
I just shook m head, waving my head as they stared at me with wonder.
“Don’t worry about me, I can get back to the mountains extremely quickly, I will explain someday, tell me what’s happening and what I can prepare for.”
