Part 8:The great test

After school,Chloe and Empoleon are going to Mr.Sawatari's first training session and during their walk they take a little conversation.Empoleon is carrying Chloe's wheelchair as always.
"Empoleon,are you nervous?I mean i don't know what Mr Sawatari will ask you to do today."
"Yes i'm nervous.I don't know what the old man will ask me to do but i'll pay attention. I hope that he'll give me real suggestions and we aren't going to lose time for hear lies."
Chloe is wondering what will happen today and finally they reach the place where Mr Sawatari is waiting them.
"Oh,finally you've arrived.I'm worried that you understand where to go".
"Mr Sawatari,can we know what you can ask us to do?"
"Eh Eh,you will discover it now.Well,let's get in".
Mr Sawatari open the door and Chloe and Empoleon follow him.The house seems a sort of dojo.
"Today's training will take place outside.I've to investigate your bond with Empoleon first to explain something about the tournament"
They go outside the dojo.
"Well,we arrived"
"And now what we have to do?"
"Ehi you're too impatient and this is bad.Learn to be more patient,this is important for battles like the Pokkén tournament."
"OK"
"Well.Today we'll do a practice battle for know how much strong is your bond with Empoleon and we'll do it with my old friend.Are you ready?"
"Yes,we are ready"says Chloe,with Empoleon that start to be worried about it.
"Well.Triton,come out please".
Another Empoleon jump out from a lake near the house.It seems to be pretty old with the scars on his body visible to the human eyes.
"Chloe,Empoleon,i'm happy to introduce you to Triton.He's my old partner in every type of battles and we win also in a Pokken Tournament.He'll be your training partner".
Triton looked at Empoleon with a menacing look and Empoleon seems to be more nervous than before while he's thinking what's happening to Triton for have all these scars.
"Master,who are they?,it's the first time that i see another Empoleon from a while"says Triton.
"Triton,they're Chloe and Empoleon.They're participating to the Pokkén Tournament and ask us to give them some lessons for become stronger."
"Ah,the Pokkén Tournament.Interesting."says Triton.
Chloe feels that Empoleon is nervous and she's afraid that something bad will happens to him.
"When you want Chloe we can start the battle"says Mr Sawatari.
Chloe is worried about Empoleon but he's ready to start.
"We are ready" says Chloe.
"Well,that the battle begin".
The two Empoleon began to run around the battlefield for study each other.Empoleon wasn't focused to the maximum and didn't see that Triton use Aqua Jet and get hit also by Cut and he goes KO.
"Empoleon,stay focused on the battle if you don't want to lose,and you Chloe let him help at having a better visual of the battle.You're his third and fourth eyes for him in this moment."
While Mr Sawatari is giving suggestions and Empoleon is trying to get up,Triton enter his Slide Stance and it's ready to unleash his Steel Wing.
"Empoleon,block it".says Chloe.
Empoleon block Triton's attack.
"Well,now i'm curious what you will do now".says Mr Sawatari,while Triton is approaching Empoleon slowly.
"Empoleon,use Aqua Jet"says Chloe while Mr Sawatari ask Triton to block it.
Empoleon rush towards Triton with Aqua Jet but Triton block it.And when Empoleon is using Surf,Triton use a fast Drill Peck and slams Empoleon against a rock with Cut.The attack was hard and the rock get destroyed on impact causing a huge cloud of smoke.Chloe was terrified.
"Empoleon!!!"
When the cloud of smoke disappeared,it shows Empoleon that find a lot of problems at getting up.Triton watch him in silence,than close his eyes and in his mind returns all the memories of when he's in the same situation of Empoleon.After this he open his eyes.
"Do you want to give up?"ask Triton to Empoleon.Empoleon looked at Chloe that is already terrified and launch at her a reassuring look.
"Never.I'm not going to give up."
"Well,now show me what you can really do".says Triton.
Chloe looked to Empoleon and notice that he's feeling a lot of pain but he don't want to disappoint her.He believes in her and want to win with her.
After this Chloe ask Empoleon to use Aqua Jet again,Triton block it but he was too impatient because,instead of using another Surf,Empoleon use Rock Smash and Triton get a critical and supereffective hit.Triton fall down.
"Apparently you watch too much far Triton.Ahh damn impatience and overconfidence".
"Master,i make the mistake to predict the wrong move,they predict it as well and use another move for catch my mistake.I'm sorry".
"Don't worry Triton.Now it's time to gets up and finish this battle".
"Yes Master."says Triton while he looks at Empoleon.
Chloe ask Empoleon to use Ice Beam but they forget that Ice Beam can be beated by Aqua Jet and Empoleon get hit by Aqua Jet but,instead of just using Cut,he use one of his Pokken combos for finish off the battle.Empoleon fall down again.
"Triton,it's time to show your real power.Time to enter the Burst Mode"
Triton enter the Burst Mode while Empoleon is getting up.
"Empoleon,show them the power of our bond.Time to enter the burst Mode".
Now also Empoleon is in Burst Mode.
Both the Empoleon gets a lot of hits,are tired and it's enough just one hit for finish off the battle.Empoleon use Aqua Jet,Triton block it,Empoleon Surf cancel and try to surprise Triton with an aerial attack but he gets stuck on Triton's BA because of the strong attack's slow startup.The battle is over and Empoleon falls down from the air after that Triton's BA disappeared.Chloe ask Empoleon if he's ok and Empoleon looked at her with a suffering face.Mr Sawatari and Triton approach them and look at Empoleon's body.
"Hmmm,the hits that he gets from Lucario's battle and the hits he gets from our battle debilitated him but he can do it.Go home and let him take a really good rest.About the battle of today,you two have a really strong bond but your strategy is pretty lackluster.You've to train a lot and you'll become stronger."says Mr Sawatari.
"Thank you Mister."says Chloe.
"Well,for now it's enough with the training. I invite you and your friend to return here next week,thus Empoleon have all the time to recover his vital energies".
"Well,Thank you and see you next week".says Chloe.
When both Chloe and Empoleon left the house,Triton ask his Master what he really think about them.
"Well Triton,these two make me think about us.I'm sure they'll make a lot of good things in both the tournament and in the real life".says Mr Sawatari.
"Ok Master,i hope that you're right about them".
Meanwhile,a shadow force begins to invades some areas of the Ferrum region.
