Scars POV

Scar picked up his dead communicator, fiddling with the on and off button. He was tired, his sleep deprivation made his eyes heavy and shut most of the morning. After observing and scanning the device for 2 hours, he stood up and gained his balance to walk out of the room.

Grian was thinking on how to turn the communicator on. He had blueprints he drew last night of the device, trying to figure out how to make it functional again. Scar walked into the kitchen and heated water to make tea, he knew it made Grian more calm. Grian was stressed, he wanted to help Scar but he had never used a communicator, he didn't know how they even worked.

"Got anything?" Scar walked over to Grian and sat down next to him, also handing him a mug of warm tea.

"No, not really, I still need some time." Grian locked his eyes onto the blueprints.

He had scar-like marks on his face that were left behind by tears that ran down his face. Sozoras words kept replaying in his mind. Scar couldn't blame him, it must have been hard for him, loosing everything and everyone he had.

Scar wrapped his arms around him. Grians eyes watered, he missed his town. The joy of traveling through the forest and the meeting with his closest friend every night was the thing that kept his heart pounding, it was the reason he stood for what he believed in. He believed in peace, joy, and giving everyone a chance to live the life they wanted to live.

The two had barely gotten any sleep the night before. Maybe they could sit back and relax for just one day. 'No, getting home was something he had to work on. Patting Grian on the back, he headed back to the treehouse office to work on getting the communicator to work again.

Grians POV

The communicator seems to run on... his thoughts slowly drafted away. Grians eyes slowly shut and his head hit the table. The happiness that used to flow in his soul slowly disintegrated since he was exiled. Every minute of sleep he lost didn't help much at all. A small nap wouldn't hurt.

Scars POV

After another hours work of checking the motherboard and wires of the device, Scar headed back out to the main dining room of the treehouse to check on Grian. The sun was slowly starting to set, it was hard to see it as it lowered under the tree line. Grian was asleep on his desk. They were both tired, Scar knew they should go to bed.

He took Grian into his arms and took him to the bedroom, set him on the bed, and covered him in blankets to keep him warm. Grian shivered. It was late, Scar climbed into bed with him and gave him a hug to warm him. The world around him got quiet and darker as his eyes shut. The sound of crickets and the wind filled the air.

The sight of hermits suffering filled Scars mind. It was torture. His nightmares got worse and worse every night. They called his name but his hands and legs were chained to a wall, forcing him to listen to the shrieks and screams of the people he saw as his family.

His eyes suddenly broke open, he was back in the treehouse. Breathing heavily, Scar closed his eyes to calm himself down. Grian had his head dug into Scars back and his arms were wrapped around him. His hands were layed on his heart, which was pounding quicker than it had ever. Scar layed his hand on top of Grians. The warmth made the thoughts in his mind leave for at least a minute.

He looked at the alarm clock that sat on the dresser next to Scars side of the bed.

.2:00.am.

He exhaled. Shutting his eyes to try to fall asleep again. One of Grians wings had opened and covered Scar like another blanket would. He smiled. It was warm and safe. Grians eyes slit open and his face went red. He kept his mouth shut and closed his eyes again, going back to sleep.

An hour later Scars eyes opened again. A flash caught his eye. It was his communicator. He sat up and made sure Grian didn't wake up. The communicator flashed with one message, he could finally see the hermits communications again. The screen was flashy, but it was manageable.

Tangotek:
Does anyone have an enchanting table near by?

Bdoubleo:
I do, I'll have to get to you first.

The communicator shut off. They were worried about him, that made Scar feel a little warm. It was nice knowing people cared about him. He checked all around the device again, trying to turn it on again. Grian sat up behind him and wrapped arms around Scars waist. He perked his head above Scars shoulder and looked at the communicator.

"Have you been up all night working on that?" Grian was still half asleep.

"No, it turned on for a second. I said hello to my friends, and then it turned off." Scar still tried to get it to work.

"So we can get it to work again!" Grian grabbed it out of Scars hand and opened the back to check the wires.

"Are we not going back to bed?" Scars head hit his pillow again.

Grian looked at him and nodded. He put the communicator on the night desk next to him and layed down next to Scar.

Grians POV

Grian woke up the next morning and looked at his alarm clock.

.9:00.am

He had overslept and he was still tired.

After getting himself out of bed, he walked into the main dining room where Scar was sitting with his communicator.

"Can you put that down for even a second?" Grian put his hand on Scars shoulder.

"I think I know how to fix it." Scar was playing with the wires.

"The humidity of the air must've leaked into the wires and made them malfunction." Scar connected two colored wires while explaining his obvious explanation.

He set it down and the communicators screen went white. They both blankly stared at the communicator as the screen changed its color.

"Well, you changed the color, that's something." Grian patted Scars back and walked into the kitchen.

Scar kept his eyes on the machine. He hoped that it would maybe turn on. He sighed and walked over to Grian in frustration.

"Maybe you need more ores or supplies to fix it." Grian started to walk to the front door to indicate that they should go mining.

"I do need more supplies." Scar walked over to him and got a pickaxe that Grian gave him.

After heading out the door and into the wild, they headed for a cave. The forest was peaceful. It had a charm to it nobody could explain. Whenever Grian and Scar went out into the woods, it was mainly to help him walk again. This was the first time Grian went out into the forest for supplies since he was exiled from his home.

Grian stopped in his tracks, there was a purple feather in the river that was flowing next to them. Noises were heard in the distance. He yanked his head in the direction of the noise. It was one of the towns patrol groups, and they were close.
