Getting married?! What the hell! Well. Stay calm... Impossible for Hermione. She couldn't bring herself to do it.

- Dad. I understand you're worried. But you can't do this to me! I'm still seventeen! You don't get married at seventeen! And as for magic, I'm a witch! It's in my blood! That's what I am and you can't stop me!

- You'll be eighteen in September. And anyway, since you won't be working, you'll have to find a husband. You'll look more acceptable.

More acceptable? Hermione had a murderous urge at that moment. Her father was worried about her, of course. But that didn't mean he had to go completely off the rails! So she tried to negotiate again, but to no avail. Her father was adamant: "No more magic and a husband at all costs". It would make a great title for a movie! How could he stop her from being a witch? And a husband? She walked up the stairs, distressed by her father's behavior. She had never seen him like this. The worst part was that she had hoped her mother would support her, that she would rebel. But no! She had kept quiet!

The first day of school was not long in coming. The students were at the rendezvous on track number nine three-quarters. The students, but not all of them. Many of them had not come, thanks to the message sent by Draco. There were still Slytherins, Hufflepuffs and even Gryffindors present, but the Slytherins were in the majority. In addition, there were also First Years waiting to be assigned to their houses.

In the Great Hall, Dumbledore was reassured that more than half of his students were not there. He made his speech and also announced his imminent departure on a supposedly important matter. He asked the students to call on Professor Snape if they had any problems. Draco looked around the room. He was relieved that the students had gotten the message. But still worried, because no evil forces were present at the moment. Not even Voldemort. He didn't understand, when he had spent the rest of his vacation hearing about the Dark Lord's schemes. He ignored this detail.

After the banquet, Draco returned to his dormitory. Crabbe and Goyle were no longer following him around like lapdogs. He was not unhappy about this, but he wondered about the reason for this desertion.

On his bed, the Slytherin thought about Hermione. She should be safe at home. But he couldn't help but think that Dumbledore's absence would be a boon for Voldemort to enter the castle, especially with Snape. But then, why did he say he would take over the castle during the vacations if now he was still not there? Too tired to think of anything else, he fell asleep immediately.

The next day, everything was... strange. The Slytherins had noticed the minority of students from other houses and were trying in their own way to show their 'advantage'. Draco was just watching, observing the goings on, but not doing anything, which was also strange, he who was normally known to be a terror. Besides, his favorite playground was with the little First Years. This year there were some from every house, and the perverted Draco that everyone knew would have taken great pleasure in abusing them as a welcome. But this time, his restraint surprised everyone. True, it was only the beginning of the year but he was not used to wait. The blond boy for his part did not care what others might think. His way of thinking had changed, and he was tired of being the bad guy.

Two days later, while Voldemort was still not showing his face, Lucius Malfoy came to the castle. The visit attracted some curious onlookers, including Crabbe and Goyle, who overheard his conversation with Snape. They understood now.

After hearing the entire discussion, they made their way to their common room, hoping to find their former friend there. Indeed, he was there, alone, sitting in an armchair, lost in his thoughts as he knew so well how to do lately. They kept a considerable distance to speak to him:
