It had been barely five minutes since Pierre had left the apartment, but Hermione couldn't wait any longer. She had to get out and find out. She'd been having morning sickness for a few days now, but she'd been careful not to tell her mother. But now that she no longer lived alone, hiding this detail was likely to be a little more complicated. She wasn't going to pretend she'd eaten out-of-date cans for much longer.

The young woman already had some doubts about the reason for her nausea. But she wanted to be sure, because just thinking about it was frightening. She'd caught herself trying to count the days, trying to remember her periods, but she got confused every time. And now, there was only one solution left: go to the nearest chemist and get the device that would enable her to dispel her doubts.

Hermione had been staring at the clock for a good fifteen minutes, waiting for the right moment, when she finally decided to go out. She grabbed her bag, along with some Muggle money, ran down the stairs, nervous as ever, and entered the street, looking for a chemist.

Back home, she waited no longer and ran to the bathroom. She had to know. Anguish was consuming her. Finally, the moment of truth arrived and the verdict was in: she was pregnant. On the test, the two lines that proved she was pregnant were clearly visible. Her heart leapt in her chest. No, to tell the truth, it had never stopped since the moment she'd started to doubt. And apparently, her doubts were well-founded. She was pregnant... Pregnant...

The word echoed in her head like an incessant, unsettling refrain, striking at every sensitive corner of her soul. How could she have let this happen? True, at the time, it was the last thing on her mind. She was too busy savoring every second in the Slytherin's arms to think about the consequences this might have.

She couldn't hide it any longer. No, she couldn't. Pierre was smart enough to realize it himself. But then, what would happen? How would he govern? Would he agree to raise a child that wasn't his? She couldn't make him believe otherwise, anyway, since they'd never actually done it. But even more frightening: how would her parents react? Having to face them again was something she didn't feel like doing.

And what about Malfoy? After all, it was his baby she was carrying in her womb... So he had every right to know about his existence, didn't he?

Hermione struck her head. Why would he need to know he'd have a child, knowing that the mother was none other than a "Mudblood" as he so eloquently put it? No. It had to be hidden at all costs. It was her child. Her child. She would have it and keep it. And Draco would never know. She'd make sure of that. For her sake and that of the unborn child. It had to be this way...

While Hermione was looking for the best way to raise her future child, Draco was following Luna towards the Weasley house. But Harry didn't give him the chance. Even before she crossed the threshold, he stood in front of her to prevent her from passing.

- Mr. Weasley, notify the Ministry and tell them that Dumbledore's murderer has been found.

- Draco exclaimed with a mocking smile. Potter, I thought you were smarter than that. Do you really think that if I'd killed Dumbo, I'd have risked coming here? I don't like it as much as you do!

- I SAW YOU!" raged the survivor. I SAW YOU ON THE ASTRONOMY TOWER WHEN HE FELL!

- And like any idiot worthy of the name, you came to the worst possible conclusions. I wasn't alone on the tower.

- Stop pulling my leg.

- Harry darling, you should listen to him," tried Molly Weasley.

- She's right, Potter," replied Draco.

- Who were you with then?!

- With...

Draco stopped dead in his tracks. He hadn't thought of it. It was Snape who had killed Dumbledore. But he was still his godfather and had helped him save Hermione and kill the snake.
