~Katya's POV~
"There you guys are!" Zena chirped as Saki and I entered The Root Cafe on Saturday, which was a local restaurant that Zena had wanted to go to for lunch. I brushed my hair back so the fiery strands weren't falling in my face, giving her a small smile before I sat down at the booth table with everyone else.
"Hi." I greeted everyone, scooting over a little more when Saki sat beside me so there was enough room for her. Beside me, Onyx grunted lowly at the close proximity that I moved to him, his hazel green eyes narrowing down at me. "You really don't seem to like giving me personal space." He grumbled, causing me to snort and glance up at him with a raised eyebrow. "Maybe if you didn't manspread everywhere, then you'd have your space." I retorted, glancing down at his spread muscular thighs.
"How rude." He said dryly, rolling his pretty eyes. My lips twitched slightly and I grabbed a menu, deciding to leave him alone in order to look at the options of food instead. I was hungry and I hadn't eaten yet today, nor had I been here before so I didn't know what I wanted to get. Biting on my bottom lip in thought, my eyes wandered over the laminated menu, looking until I found something that sounded good to me. Eventually, I decided to order an organic iced tea, a regular cheeseburger and french fries, pushing the menu away from me once I was done with it.
I crossed my legs over one another, the heel of my white and dark purple Nike high-tops bumping against my calf when I began to bounce my leg. The spandex fabric of my black shorts hiked up a little, exposing my bare thighs a little more, but I didn't bother trying to pull them down as I knew they'd just ride up again. My cropped black tank top had thin little straps that went over my shoulders, so thin that they looked like they could snap if tugged at a little too hard, and Onyx seemed to notice it when one of the sleeves of my white, black and purple windbreaker jacket fell down one of my shoulders.
The only real reason that I knew he noticed it was because I felt one of his long fingers brush against the skin of my shoulder as he slid a digit beneath the thin strap, tugging at it gently. My head snapped in his direction and I raised my brows, smacking his large hand away with my smaller one. "And you talk about me invading your personal space?" I snorted.
His full lips twitched up into an amused, sly smirk that made my stomach swirl as heat pooled low between my hips. I subtly shifted my hips, crossing my right leg tighter over the other as I narrowed my eyes at him, hating how turned on I felt around him. "Fine, then we both invade each other's personal space. Better?" He asked, cocking up a brow at me in question. When I just gave him a flat look, he let out a chuckle and pulled out a peppermint from his pocket, unwrapping it before he popped it into his mouth.
Cocking my head to the side, I watched him closely, furrowing my brows. "You always carry peppermints on you? I see you eating them a lot." I pointed out, as I had caught him popping peppermints into his mouth several times by now, always pulling them out of one of his front pockets first.
Onyx flicked his gaze down to me, his pink tongue slipping out to slip across his full bottom lip. "Yeah. I'm kind of addicted to them, a little." He murmured in explanation. I hummed softly in response, unable to help my gaze from lingering on his mouth whenever he spoke, hanging onto every word that he said in that low, gravelly voice. The scent of his breath was now peppermint-y, his hazel eyes staring at me intently until I met his gaze again. Neither of us said a word, but there was something about the way that he looked at me that had a blush creeping up my neck and my thighs clenching beneath the table.
To my surprise, his eyes flashed and his jaw clenched tightly as he looked at me, the low crunch of the peppermint breaking within his mouth from the action. He leaned down a little closer, speaking in a low murmur for only me to hear. "Quit looking at me like that unless you want me to think you're waiting for the chance to get my cock in you." He said into my ear, the warmth of his breath fanning down my neck.
Furls of heat unraveled within my lower belly, causing me to bite harshly on my bottom lip as I clenched my thighs together, hating that his words made my core pool with arousal. God, I was so attracted to him that it was unfair.
I didn't even have it in me to argue with him, to say something smart, so I just found myself letting out a soft moan of complaint as I narrowed him eyes up at him. "Y-You're such an asshole." I whispered, but the insult just made him smirk and shrug his shoulders carelessly. "And you shouldn't be attracted to me anyways, but you are. Aren't you, kitty?" He hummed, cocking a brow up at me.
A hot blush filled my cheeks and I huffed, snatching up my cup of tea that had arrived at some point while he and I were busy talking. I took a long sip, trying to distract myself from the arousal between my thighs and the pounding of my heart within my chest. Having him address the attraction that I held for him caught me off guard, and I was itching for anything to take my mind off of how flustered I was feeling from it. I hadn't even known that he was aware of my attraction towards him, though I guess it probably wasn't too hard for him to figure out. I'd never been good at hiding the way I felt.
Smirking at my silence, Onyx swiped his tongue over his bottom lip and looked away with an amused sparkle in his eye. "Just as I thought."
