Nobody really understood how or when soulmate marks happened they just show up when you least expect it, on some rare occasions people would get more than one mark. It was very rare though, Sera sat in her apartment watching a movie having the sound on just for some background noise. She was in college and still didn't receive her mark, usually on your eighteenth birthday you would get your soulmate mark but it didn't show up quite yet. She had her mark which developed on her eighteenth birthday, the marks resembled tattoos but it was a brand to show your bond with your mate. At this point she thought she didn't have a soulmate, it did happen for some which meant settling for someone you could bond with. Normally when unmarked couples bonded and felt love for one another their marks would match up with time.
Sera scratched her wrist out of habit, sometimes her mark would itch or sting but eventually it would settle. Looking down at her mark she saw a puzzle piece, along the piece there was a detailed rose within the center of the piece. She saw three sides had flat edges but her piece had a curve to connect to something. It looked pretty big but she managed to hide it with gloves or really good concealer granted it was expensive but she played it off like her mark was along her chest to avoid people asking her if they could see. Sera sighed out tucking her wrist between her thighs to stop itching her mark, she worried she may be one of the few without a soulmate, perhaps they died before her birthday. Sera decided to turn in for the night to attend a morning lecture at her university. Getting up from her couch and turning the TV off she walked into her small bedroom, she got a pair of clean pajamas then went for her bathroom to take a shower and do her nightly routine.

Clint couldn't help but stare off into the night sky, he sat perched on the roof of a ten story building. He and Bucky were out on a mission involving recon, the two of them were practically unstoppable but they both knew something about the other. They had their soulmate marks but it was odd, together they also had puzzle pieces oddly shaped with flat edges and a curve which seemed like the top of a heart. They had the same marks from getting lucky and meeting once Bucky joined the team. Their pieces had something missing, it looked like together their pieces would fit one more. "Stop day dreaming, I need your focus." Bucky spoke up looking through the sight on his rifle. He sat beside the dirty blonde haired man expecting some sarcastic responce.
Instead he was met with a question. "Why haven't we found them yet?" Clint asked still looking down at his arm. Buck pulled his focus from the sight of his rifle and frowned, his eyes glanced over to his wrist having the same marking. "These things take time. I didn't find you until technically a hundred years later." Bucky tried to be supportive and offer an answer. "Maybe. I just don't like it. Our line of work, it's dangerous. The last thing we need is some civilian getting in the middle of all this." Clint tried to make a point, he sounded a little harsh but he was genuinely concerned and worried. "Then we'll just have to teach them how to fight or how to shoot a gun. I need you focused on the mission right now, can we discuss this back at the hotel?" Bucky quipped, he frowned knowing Clint has always been worried about the missing piece if he was honest with himself he was worried too.

The next day Sera walked around her university campus, she didn't bother bringing her bag she carried an old school voice recorder with her and kept a few tapes on hand in case she needed to change them out. The tapes luckily had an A and B side, she had a pretty good collective memory she could keep things organized and recall most information on the fly from the top of her brain. The lecture hall quickly filled with students, Sera sat front row to have better visualization and sound for her recorder. She waited for the professor to begin then she pressed the record button, she gently set the recorder down on her desk and watched the professor for the remainder of class. Sera normally labeled the tapes and slipped them in color coded pouches for each class, she enjoyed this method because she could listen back to any lecture and make notes in a note book accordingly. She could go back and listen again if she missed important bits of information, she wouldn't move from the lecture hall for a good two hours.
