Niragi didn't fear much in Borderland, but an angry Ryoko easily took the cake. He had been trapped physically and mentally. Neither had noticed Chishiya and Kuina slip away or the crowd starting to interrogate Asahi about her whereabouts until someone bumped into the two. The interaction between them only lasted a few seconds, but it had seemed as if everything had gone to shit.
Momoka's friend, Asahi, was held up by her limbs about to get carried away. The crowd was overpowering her pleas of being released. Ryoko glanced at the ceiling before snatching the sniper rifle from Niragi's hands. Pulling his arm up while purposely knocking the other in the head, he shot at the roof. The sudden gunshots startled the group into scattered screams and ducked positions.
Now with everyone's attention on him, he looked as if he was about to go on a rampage. Motioning at the huddled few still holding Asahi, they were quick to drop her and shuffle back into the crowd.
Everyone will take turns reporting what they've been doing in this past hour" Ann announced to the crowd. A girl in a yellow wrap pointed to her.
"There's blood on her!" Ann looked at the bloodied rug in her hand, understanding why she would take it wrongly.
"Don't get the wrong idea-" Her defense was cut off when Niragi commented.
"Now, this is getting interesting. Could she be the witch?"
"You're wrong! This is Hatter's blood."
"What?"
"Hatter's blood?"
"I was checking Hatter's body. That's when the blood got on it."
"His body?"
"Hatter was murdered." Ryoko couldn't help but blink in shock. When did this happen?
"Hatter was..."
"Why would you keep this from us?"
"The executives believed this would throw everyone into confusion."
"Are you guys hiding more things from us? HEY!"
"Stop whispering among yourselves."
"Calm down."
It was Keiichi Kuzuryū, number 2 executive, that spoke up against the crowd. Ann raised her arm, clutching something between her fingers.
A bullet.
"This bullet was stuck inside Hatter's body. The firing marks align with the firearms we have here."
Niragi made a questioning sound next to Ryoko, whose hand was still wrapped around Niragi's gun. I honestly wouldn't be surprised if he was the one who shot Hatter.
"This means someone at the Beach killed Hatter."
A girl in a floral bathing suit spoke up.
"Hey. Could it be that the witch killed Hatter? I mean, doesn't that sound plausible given the timing of the events? The witch must be among them-"
The girl was cut off by a sword going through her chest. Blood quickly pooled from her mouth as her body fell to the floor. Takatora Samura was crouched behind her. "How troublesome. Let's just burn everything we find." Everyone started to back away in fear of being stabbed next.
"If someone among us is the witch, then everyone other than the militant member is the witch." Aguni was the next to step up and speak. The crowd split to avoid the bald man. "Who's the witch? Come forward. If no one does, then I'll throw everyone into the fire."
Niragi used Ryoko's distracted gaze to his advantage. He snatched the gun from the man before shooting into the air, scaring everyone into a scattered run.
Ryoko felt a gun being pressed into his chest. His eyes followed along the arm up to the face.
"Can't make a shot without a gun." Aguni's inexpressive face made the joke seem almost too serious.
A dark look appeared on Ryoko's face when he glanced behind Aguni's shoulder. Feeling the intense gaze, Mira looked around slowly before making eye contact with the male's angry gaze. When he positioned himself to move around Mira, she pivoted and briskly walked through the crowd.
Before the male could step past Aguni, the man grabbed his arm tightly. Ryoko turned his head to be eye to eye with him.
"If you don't let me go right now, I will put a bullet through your head."
Slightly taken back by the venom in his voice, Aguni releases him. Ryoko let out an airy chuckle before continuing his original route.
"Ooooh, Miraaaaaa!"
"You can run, but you can't hide!" Ryoko shouted for everyone in the vicinity to hear. His next words were only for him to hear.
"Let's play a game."
