a lost cause

"Help! Help!" shouted Nya as she ran as far away as possible from the scene that had just unfolded. She looked around for anyone she could get ahold of, but no one was around.

She reached the other side of the forest, where she finally ran into Kai.

"Kai!" She sounded extremely panicked.

"Nya! What's going on? What's wrong?" He responded.

"We need to go now. Where's Jay?" she said.

"Nya slow down. What is going on?" said Kai again, awaiting a response.

"There's no time," she said as she ran forward.

Kai followed closely behind, still extremely confused. The two ran back in the direction of the bounty. As they ran forward, they eventually ran into Jay, who was just lollygagging around in the woods.

"Let's go, Jay," yelled Nya as she passed him and kept running.

"Woah, Woah, wait, what's going on, why are we running?" questioned Jay as he turned to look at Kai. Kai just looked back at him and shrugged.

The three started to make their way out of the woods, but a large fallen tree blocked their path. Jay went to use his power to try to break the tree because Kai would have started a fire in the woods if he did anything. Jay moved his hands in front of him to conjure up some lightning. As he did this, nothing happened when Jay attempted to use his powers.

"Uh, guys... My powers aren't working," said Jay.

"Wait again... that means---" Kai said before he was cut off by Nya, who began to run again.

In silence, the three dashed down the final stretch towards the bounty. The final stretch was always the worst because they never knew what was going to happen so closely to home.

They finally made it to the bounty and ran on. Nya went right to the wheel and began to fly it.

"Wait Nya! Lloyd and Sadie, they're behind. We need to get them," said Kai.

"That's what I'm trying to avoid," she responded.

Kai and Jay were still confused but decided to be quiet because they knew they were not getting a response any time soon. Nya was obviously hyperfocused on her not objective, and they knew they could never stop her.

They were finally in the air, and Nya was flying as far as she could away from the woods. Sensei Wu dashed into the main room, perplexed as to why the bounty had suddenly begun to fly. Nya was able to relax a bit now that they were safely out of the woods.

"Nya, what happened in the woods? Where are our powers?" Kai said as he put out his hands and attempted to make a flame.

"Your powers are gone again? Where are Lloyd and Sadie?" said Wu seemingly very concerned to hear this again.

"The masked figure... It's Sadie. She took Lloyd," said Nya, still out of breath.

"Wait... WHAT?" said Jay, in full shock.

"But like how? Why?" said Kai back.

"I have no idea, but I have no idea what to do now," said Nya.

"Well we know that Lloyd has terrible luck with the ladies," said Jay, once again trying way too hard to lighten the mood. Maybe this time his joke wasn't fully wrong though...

"What happened?" said Wu, "Did you see anything?"

"I couldn't hear anything, but as soon as I got to Lloyd and Sadie, vines fell from his body and the two remained standing there. He was now distant and cold staring back at her while she now had vines covering her body. He had the same bodily motions as Cole and Zane. It was at this point that I knew we had lost him too. We did not lose Sadie, though, because she was never there to begin with. We were fighting her and for her the whole time, and we had no idea. She was always one step ahead of us." Nya was distraught because she felt like she had failed her team.

Kai punched the nearest wall closest to him.

"Woah Woah Kai what?" said Jay.

"I failed him yet again. I made a promise and I can't keep it," said Kai.

"Kai, you can't blame yourself you weren't there, none of us were. We will get him back. We will get them ALL back," said Nya trying to sound more confident than she was.

"We need a plan," said Sensei Wu, "Let's go see if Misako has made any progress."

"We can't lose any more of us," said Kai. He said this before but now they were down too far to lose another.
