Chapter 44 - Proud Husband

A few days ago when Zhan and I were on a stakeout, his cell phone rang. A good friend of his was calling and asked him if he would come to the alumni meeting. A few students from Zhan's cohort wanted to get together for a social evening. Zhan agreed and also immediately said that he would come with company.

Only three days later the meeting took place. However, since I still had a meeting with my two employees in the office, who really do an excellent job, I told Zhan to go ahead and I would follow by cab.

Zhan went on his way and I discussed the coming week with my staff. In the meantime we have so much work that we can hardly keep up. And more and more people are coming to us looking for help. Therefore, we also discussed whether we should hire one or two more private detectives. Ray and Binyun offered to take care of it. Since I trust both of them, I agreed.

Ray has the office completely under control, but could use some help here and there. So he'll be looking for an office assistant. Binyun, a former police officer, is now 44 years old and no one had wanted to hire him because of his age. I gave him a chance and it turned out to be right. He will be interviewing private detectives. We did not set an age limit. Especially the older ones can teach us a lot.

Binyun is very experienced, professional and hardworking. I pay him and Ray every month with a smile. And thanks to them, I can afford to hire more people. But if there will be more, then I definitely need a bigger office!

After the meeting, I went over to the apartment, showered and dressed, and called a cab. I admit, I had been pretty excited. True, I was already getting to know two of Zhan's friends. But there would be more than 2 friends of Zhan.

When I arrived there, I obviously arrived at the right time. Because I heard a former student ask Zhan, "I heard you are married. Why didn't you bring your wife?"

Zhan hadn't noticed me yet, and I was eager to hear his answer. Zhan smiled and replied, "Well, it's true. I am married. Very happily, in fact. But who said it was a woman?"

Everyone looked at Zhan questioningly. "What do you mean?" Asked another female student.

"I'm married. But not to a woman, to a man." Explained Zhan.

Since everyone was talking in confusion, I didn't understand what they were saying in response. It wasn't until two women looked in my direction and said, "Oh my God, look at this cute guy." Silence fell. Suddenly everyone looked in my direction, including Zhan, who was grinning broadly.

"Yibo, there you are finally. Come here." He said and I walked slowly and shyly to him. He put his arm around me and said, "This is Yibo, my cute husband."

I was greeted warmly by everyone and especially the women showed keen interest in me and asked me many questions such as, how old am I, how did we meet, what kind of husband is Zhan, whether he treats me well, whether I have ever been with a woman and so on.

After the intense round of questions, we went on leisurely and Zhan told about how we earn our living. And I was amazed that most of the present people have at least heard about my private detective agency. Of course, I immediately wanted to know where they heard about it and one woman said, "Well, you guys caught that one scammer. It was on the news."

That's when I remembered the first case Zhan and I had. Thanks to his good sense of smell, we were able to track down a woman who had cheated many men out of their money and jewelry. At that time, I had decided to give Zhan a chance to prove to me that love really exists. A nice memory.

In a cozy atmosphere, with drinks and snacks, the evening passed quite quickly. And I saw my ZhanZhan drunk for the first time!

When I came back from the toilet, Zhan pulled me to his lap, kissed my cheek and said to everyone present, "Look at him. Isn't he cute?" Everyone nodded. "He is so wonderful, so loving, smart, hardworking, brave and so much more. I love him so much, words can't describe it. I am just proud to be his husband. He means everything to me. He is my life. And I never get enough of him."
