Olivia Baker
"You're...engaged? To Spencer?" Jordan questioned with wide eyes. He couldn't believe what had just came out of Olivia's mouth.
Olivia had broke the news of their engagement and pregnancy to Jordan and her mom. She then explained what led to the current event between her and Spencer. From Spencer's issues with the gang, his other baby mother and daughter, the plan from the previous night, everything had been aired out.
"Wait a minute, you're pregnant?!" Laura's eyes widened as Olivia nodded. "Why didn't you tell me sooner, Livvie?!" she questioned as she pulled her daughter in for a hug.
"There was just a lot going on" Olivia answered as she pulled away from the hug. "And giving the history we've had, I figured you'd be disappointed" she sighed as she felt her eyes water for the 100th time.
"I'm far from disappointed, I'm just a bit shocked" Laura said, causing Olivia to nod her head. "I meant when I said I wanted to repair our relationship, Liv. We're going to work through this step by step. I know this pregnancy wasn't in your plan, but I want you to know that you have my support" she said as she rubbed her daughter's arm.
"You and Spencer, you both have a lot of work to do individually" she began. "You haven't even been together for a year and you're already having a lot of issues. The both of you rushed into this without fully knowing one another. Marriage shouldn't even be a thought at the moment" she continued.
"I love him, mom. I do want to be with him" she said as she frowned.
"I know, Liv" she gave her a small smile. "But how do you expect a marriage to work when there's no compromise? You both don't know how to handle your emotions and that's not going to work in the long haul. There's just so much you both need to do internally, especially since there's a baby involved now" she explained and Olivia agreed.
"Since we were kids, you've always been known to avoid your issues" Jordan spoke. "That's got to change if you want your relationship to work. How do you think my relationship with Simone has worked out after high school? Our communication is on point and we compromise whenever we disagree" he continued.
"And that's something the both of us are lacking in" she said as Laura and Jordan agreed. "I just really want this to work" she said as she twiddled her fingers.
"And you can" Laura said. "It just requires a lot from the both of you, but I believe you both can do it. Maybe the both of you need to get to know one another again" she continued.
"That's a great suggestion" Jordan said and Laura nodded. "I mean you two did jump into it pretty fast" he said.
"So are you suggesting that we start off as friends?" Olivia inquired and the two shook their heads.
"Not at all, Liv" Laura smiled at her daughter. "It is possible to increase your emotional intimacy and connection while actively working on your personal growth. There's no need to break up or be just friends to achieve those things. If you are secure in your relationship, it's not necessary" she explained and Olivia nodded.
"I definitely have a lot of reflecting I need to do" Olivia softly chuckled as she shook her head.
"That's true" Laura agreed. "And you know you have the both of us here, Liv. You don't have to go through any of this alone. I know it may have felt that way in the past, but we're trying to actively change that for the better" she continued and Olivia smiled.
There was a moment of silence in the room before Jordan spoke up once more.
"I...wanted to apologize to you about earlier" he said with a look of regret. "I just saw the knot on your head and lost it" he continued.
