"We're Shadowhunters," Jace explained. "We protect the human world from the demon world. The people you saw murdered at the Pandemonium, they weren't people at all, they were shapeshifting demons."

"I'm not interested in being a part of your supernatural fight club," Clary scoffed rudely making Olivia roll her eyes.

"What she means to say," Olivia shoved her sister and gave her a pointed look to be polite. "Is that we just want to find our mom. Please help us find her," her voice broke and her eyes pleaded with him for help making both the Shadowhunters' hearts clench.

"We're the best chance you've got," he smiled softly at her as he tightened his grip on her hands.

"I don't even know you," Clary shook her head.

"Thank you," Olivia whispered as she smiled back at them.

The sound of a phone ringing brought the three out of their trance as Clary gasped, "Simon."

"Things are all ripped apart," she answered as she walked away from the trio.

"So we're part angels," Olivia mumbled.

"Yup," Alec pursed his lips and looked at her sympathetically.

"Cool," she breathed out.

"Simon is here," Clary announced. "What happened to my clothes?"

"Demon venom," Jace replied. "Isabelle left you these."

"You're kidding right?" Clary scoffed as she looked at the clothes.

"She's very comfortable with her body," he shrugged.

"These are freaking gorgeous," Olivia chuckled as she admired the leather boots.

Clary huffed as she looked at the mirror a few minutes later, "How did that get there?"

"I drew that," Jace shrugged as he read the journal Olivia had. It consisted of short stories that she thought of or had dreams about.

"Okay listen," Clary bit her lip, "I still don't get everything that's going on here, but you don't tattoo my neck. That's creepy. And why didn't you stop him Liv?" She turned to her sister with an accusing look.

"What was I supposed to say C? Don't save her life cause she doesn't want her neck tattooed? You were dying genius," she glared.

"Next time, maybe we'll just let you die," Jace scowled at her, hating how Olivia looked hurt for a second at her sister's anger.

"Good riddance," Alec mumbled making the blonde smirk.

"And it's not a tattoo. It's a rune," Jace explained. "They have enormous power. Good for Shadowhunters, lethal for humans."

"But you both know all about runes don't you?" He threw Clary's drawing book open on the bed and picked up Olivia's journal. She had written about angels on earth, her story was so familiar to everything she had learned. Angels, demons, vampires, warlocks.

He frowned at the confused look on their faces, "Maybe you don't."

"I saw something behind your friend," Jace said as he walked behind the Fray sisters.

"You're not gonna kill Simon, are you?" Clary asked making him shrug and smirk.

Olivia raised her eyebrow and gave him a pointed look, "You hurt Si and I will break every bone in your body."

Jace had an unreadable glint in his eyes as he smirked at her. "Protect the humans, kill the demons. You'll get it eventually Liv."
