"Buddy, what's going on man," Simon panicked when Jace held his hand making Olivia chuckle. "I'm not your type, man. I don't even-." He began muttering incoherent sentences when the Institute became clear to him.

"W-where are we?" Simon asked Olivia with wide eyes, "What the hell? Livie, is there a way going on that I don't know about?"

"There is now," Jace said pulling Olivia with him as he walked inside.

"And I think my mother is at the center of it," Clary stated.

"What is this place? There's a lot of gear in here. What'd they do, rob a tech?"

"Probably," Olivia mumbled.

"So, this cold-blooded killer is gonna help us?" Simon asked them.

"He's not a killer. He's protecting us," Olivia snapped at him, defending Jace.

"Specifically you," Jace grinned at Olivia making her blush. "It's sort of our thing."

"Your thing? You guys have a thing?" Simon asked, frowning in disappointment.

"He means a Shadowhunter thing," Clary piped in, "That's what they do, protect humans from demons."

"Demons, right. That makes perfect sense. Cause there are demons, other than Liv, running all around New York," Simon scoffed.

"Yes, and ouch," Olivia mocked placing a hand on her heart with a hurt expression.

"That is the first correct thing you've said all day. Except for the one about Liv," Jace added making Olivia grin.

"Won't they find us?" Clary asked looking at the NYPD officers on the screen.

"No," Jace replied. "The walls will deter them. And the NYPD will do their typical mundie thing for a few hours and then the area will be clear."

"What is going on?" Alec questioned as he walked up to them, sending small smiles to Jace and Olivia. "Why is there a mundane in the Institute?"

"A Circle member followed him to get to Olivia," Jace answered making Alec look over at Olivia to check her for injuries, a concerned expression on his face.

"A Circle rune, just like the guys that took my mother," Clary explained.

"What exactly is a Circle member and why are they trying to kill us?" Simon asked.

"All we know is a long time the Circle led a revolt. A lot of Shadowhunters got killed, including my father," Jace said. Alec held his hand and stroked his thumb with his.

"And since the revolt, we've been forbidden to even hear about the Circle," Alec continued for him.

"But how is that even possible? It's your history," Clary asked making Jace scoff.

"Says the girl that didn't even know she was a Shadowhunter."

"Yeah, yeah you're right," Clary snarked making Olivia roll her eyes. "And now the only person who knows the truth is missing, so I don't care about your rules or what's forbidden. There's got to be someone out there who can tell us why they've taken my mother."

"You little-," Alec started only to be stopped by his sister and mate giving him sharp looks, Jace warning him not to do anything to upset the redhead, knowing their mate would not be happy about that.

"Yes, there is," Jace answered Clary. "You both coming?"

"Yeah," both Clary and Olivia muttered before following Jace.

"No, no, no," Jace stopped Simon making both the sisters roll their eyes. "Not you."

"Hey, we're a package deal," Clary retorted making the blonde roll his eyes.

"Yeah," Olivia agreed with her sister making Jace frown at her. What was so special about the mundane that made her care so much?

"There are runes all over the training floor that will kill you mundie boyfriend," he scowled.

Jace and Alec resisted the urge to pull their mate away from the mundane and keep her close to them. But they couldn't. She was new to the Shadow World and they knew she needed time before they dumped the information of them being mates on her.

"He's not her boyfriend," Clary glared.

"He-he's not my boyfriend," Olivia mumbled, trying to hide the red blush coating her cheeks.

"Yeah we're friends," Simon stuttered.

"Best friends," Olivia smiled at her best friend making him smile back. Her smile slowly faded when she realized that she couldn't involve Simon in this. This was her and Clary's mess, she couldn't include Simon. She couldn't risk his life.

"And I'm tough," Simon said making Olivia smirk, "I can handle runes. So uh-, bring on the runes."

"Si, you can't handle the runes," Olivia smiled, trying to suppress her giggle. Simon always tried to act tough, especially in front of Clary. "Do you even know what they are?"

"What exactly are runes?" Simon asked sheepishly.

"They give Shadowhunters our demon-fighting power," the brunette girl next to Alec spoke up.

"So hot," Simon muttered when she showed them her rune making Olivia giggle at his dumbstruck face as Clary glared at her best friend.

Jace cleared his throat, glaring at the mundane making him look around nervously and clear his throat, "The rune."

"Don't worry Olivia. I'll watch over the best friend," she continued. "In fact, I was about to make breakfast."

Jace inhaled a breath and smirked, "On second thought, the runes might be less lethal."

"I'll pretend I didn't hear that. Please excuse my brother's lack of manners. This is Alec," she pointed at the brunette, "And I'm Isabelle."

Isabelle held her hand out for Simon to kiss, but he nervously shook it making Olivia roll her eyes and smack his head. "Lewis. Simon, Simon Lewis. Two first names. Am I still talking?"

"Yes, and you should shut up," Olivia hissed while Isabelle giggled.

"See," Jace rolled his eyes at the mundane, "Best friend's safe and sound here."

"Jace, if anything happens to him," Clary frowned.

"He'll be fine, C," Olivia reassured her.

"Liv's right, I'll be fine," Simon said, his eyes still stuck on Isabelle.

"Okay," Clary sighed, "Where are we going?"

"Training room," Jace answered.

"Hey uh," Jace whispered to Simon, "Don't eat the food. Dangerous."

"Jace, you coming?" Olivia called.

"Coming."
