Chapter 1

The girl stormed into the main room, she shook with anger and glared at the man sat in a tattered armchair, his face shadowed. "You shouldn't have come back" The man stood up and faced the girl. Their faces inches apart and each were staring at the other with mutual anger and frustration.

"Why?" The girl replied, "you don't want my help, is that it?" she paused and looked behind her, where a woman was stood with a small child grabbing her hand, "you don't want my help to save you all?"

"No, I don't want your help, you're a pathetic excuse for a human being Paige, in this house, by my rules, you're not even a part of this family"

The girl, now known as Paige staggered back, hit hard by the comment. She quickly recovered and scowled. "Now you're the one being an idiot. You know what's out there and you know I can help this family, I can help my family!" Paige looked back at her mother for support, "you want to save yourself, don't you?" Paige turned back to her father, "save your daughter?"

"The only thing we need saving from is you. You and your devil abilities" Her dad replied, he looked Paige up and down with distaste and sat down in his armchair, turning on the television. Paige flung her hands up in the air and sighed.

She walked over to her mother and sister and reached into her pocket, her mother extended her hand and received a small business card. "If you need me, call me on that number. I'll pick up and be straight down here"

"We'll hide it from dad" The younger girl said, "I promise"

"Be safe, remember to repaint the house with salt" Paige looked her mother in the eye, "when he's not looking, you put rock salt in that paint, it will keep you safe" She heard a flapping of wings and knew she needed to hurry up. "Beth, I love you, don't be a pain in the ass for mum okay?"

"Okay" The girl replied, her and Paige exchanged a hug and she walked to the front door, "be careful Paige" Beth shouted as the older girl walked out the door to be greeted with.

"Castiel" Paige smiled when she saw the angel, "how are you?"

"Good thank you Paige" Castiel replied, "and you?"

"Fine" Her lips pursed into a thin line and she looked away from the angels look. "I mean it" she said before he perused the matter. "What brings you to the Cooper household?"

"What brought you?"

"If more creatures find out what I am, there must be some intelligent ones, ones that will use my family to get to me" Paige stopped walking and stared at Castiel. "You know what I mean"

"You're worried about your family" Castiel replied.

"I'm worried about my mother and sister" Paige corrected, unlocking her car and opening the door, "they are the only ones I care about"

"What are you going to do now?" Castiel asked, he followed her to the door of her car.

"Well I have a job in Colorado, that's where I'm going back" Paige replied, she got into the car and started the engine. "Are you coming?"

"No, I'm needed in heaven"

"See you soon Cas" Paige waved as she drove off.

"I'm on a highway to hell" Dean sang as the Impala roared down the deserted road, he glanced at Sam who was smirking, when the tape finished he turned down the music and looked at his younger brother, "what?" he asked.

"Me?" Sam asked, innocently smiling, "nothing"

Dean furrowed his eyebrows and then shook it off, "tell me about the Vic's again" Dean asked, as his attention turned back to the road.

"Okay" Sam replied, he opened the folder on his lap and read out the first page, "last week an English family were murdered in their house, no break in, no murder weapon, no suspects"

"How did they die?"

"Hearts ripped out, blood everywhere"

Dean looked over, "werewolves?"

"Could be, the moon cycle matches the attack" Sam replied.

"I sense a but" Dean replied, he slowed down as they got near the sheriff's station.

"There was another killing the week before that, a family all murdered, hearts missing, the same MO"

"Let's go look at the bodies, they might show us something else" Dean turned off the engine and waited for his younger brother to get out before walking up to the bland building together.
