With each minute that passed my blood pressure and heat rate escalated, Thomas had yet to return and Vince was growing impatient.

"We can't wait any longer, we have to go."

I begged and pleaded for just a few more moments but it came to the point he couldn't give in anymore, we were running out of time. As the chopper left the ground any hope I still held had disappeared, I was never going to see him again. I was fresh out of tears so instead I just stared at the ground, ignoring the world around me. Out of no where the building caught fire, a huge blast of flames coming from the area I last saw Thomas.

"I'm so sorry honey, we're going to a better place now though." My mother tries to console, while my sister held my hand in comfort. The roof was beginning to cave in, the fire spreading throughout the whole building. Once we got high enough in the air we were just about begin our way to the island Vince was speaking about earlier when we faintly heard a yell from below.

"It's Thomas!" Newt shouts, ushering for the pilot to level with the building. I was convinced this was some sort of sick joke before I actually glanced up and saw him covered in ash and dirt. I was overwhelmed with bliss until I noticed he had to jump. It was too risky but the only option we had.

"Tommy, hurry up." I scream, there was such a small window and if he was going to make it he needed to do it now. It was only a spilt second but yet it still qualified as the scariest part of my life. As he was in the air, no part of him on stable ground, my life legitimately flashed before my eyes. Past, present, and the future all of it combined into one slideshow. Thomas had fell on top of me before I was able to see the last memories that had yet to happen, but I wasn't mad or disappointed just relieved the love of my life was in my arms once again.

"You're covered in blood." I shriek, beginning to search his body for the source of blood but he grabs ahold of my hands to stop me.

"It's not mine, I'm okay." I didn't ask any further questions, not just because I'd rather not know the answers but also the only thing I truly cared about was that he was okay. We sat with one another for a couple minutes, leaning on the other and just enjoying the moment before I drifted off into a deep sleep without even realizing. I knew in that exact moment the hardest part of our lives was behind us and the future only held peace.

5 Years Later

"Thomas, could you get Elaine ready for dinner? My sister, mother and Newt are going to be here any minute." I instruct whilst adding the finishing touches on the meal that had taken hours to prepare. The island we now all lived on was perfect, meeting each and every need. There was plenty of space, food, and most of all was far away from anyone with the flare. Life was finally the way it was supposed to be.

"But mommy I want you to dress me. Daddy always picks out stupid stuff." Our daughter complains, a sour look on her face. Thomas, my now husband, shot her a hurt expression.

"I do not." He argues thinking he was an expert in fashion.

"You kinda do." I laugh, remembering last time when she was dressed in striped pants and a polkadot shirt.

"Tommy why don't you set the table and I'll get this little bug dressed." Elaine grins and Thomas shakes his head in defeat, she was most definitely a mommy's girl. She skipped all down the hall and turned left to her room, lighting humming a tune she learned from the kids around town.

"Mommy, is today Friday?" Elaine asks, watching me rummage through her closet for something without grass stains.

"No honey, it's Tuesday. Why do you ask?"

"Grammy, Aunt Cora, and Uncle Newt only come to eat on Friday nights." She was too smart for her own good just like her parents. Truth there was a reason I was holding dinner tonight other than Friday like usual, nobody but I knew why.

"This is cute, don't you think?" I question whilst holding up a pale yellow dress, hoping to change the topic of conversation. She doesn't give a distinct answer instead squeals while jumping around in circle. This child was so energetic that I sometimes wondered if she was getting into the medicine cabinet.

"I'll take that as a yes." I nod as I attempted to change her into the dress, she made it anything but easy on me but eventually I was able to chase her down and get it over her head. By the time we emerge from her room my sister , Newt and mother are already sat at the table laughing at a joke Thomas must of told. Elaine wastes no time and plops herself down on her Grammy's lap. While Elaine was distracted I took this time to began plating dinner.

"You're absolutely stunning." Thomas gushes as he snuck up behind me and snaked his arms around my waist, placing a gently kiss onto my shoulder. Even after all this time with one another the butterflies in my stomach refused to subside. We had been through so much and finally we had peace.

"You know how much I love you, right?" I question, an odd sense of gratefulness washing over me.

"You only tell me everyday, and each time I wonder how I got so lucky." I grin at his response, life was finally the way it was supposed to be. Thomas and I carry everyones plates to the table and we begin eating, Elaine had refused to use a napkin and had food all over her face. I merely smile at the sight, when I was in the maze there was no way I thought my life was going to turn out like this.

"So theres a reason why I called everyone here today." I start off, trying not to laugh as everyones faces froze mid chew. If only they could have seen how odd they looked. Thomas scrunches his eyebrows together, of course he was confused considering when he asked about it I just told him there was no particular reason. I hold his hand that was resting upon the table.

"I'm pregnant." I smile, Elaine is the first to react. Immediately she bounces over to me and presses her ear to my stomach, attempting to hear her little siblings.

"Thats not how it works, sweetie." I inform whilst lifting her up and setting her on my lap. Thomas squeezes my free hand and meets my lips in a kiss, he was grinning like an idiot.

"How great." My mom and sister congratulate, happy to have yet another addition to the family.

"Thats wonderful, I'm so happy for you guys." Newt beams, ever since Elaine was born any feeling I harbored for him dissipated. He would always have a special place in my heart but Thomas was the love of my life, he always had been. Once Newt and Thomas resolved their little dispute over me they become brothers. Our family had pretty much just started off with just my sister and I but with time it expanded. Glancing around the table I couldn't be happier.

This was the end of one chapter of my life but the start of another.
