Chapter 15: Winter Farm Work

The next day...

The Grace family are sleeping so soundly, until...

*clang clang clang!!!!*

They all jumped to the sound. "What? What?" Ray shouted as he sat up immediately and covered his ears.

They all immediately sat up. The room was soon filled with the baby's wails.

Ray stood up and went outside of the room. The clanging soon stopped and he growled.

"Took you long enough to wake up! Hurry up! You have a lot of work to do." The old man sneered.

Norman carried their new born and is trying to calm him down. "Shh. I know. You got startles didn't you? Its okay.

Ah! Lucas! Your also crying?! Ugh! Ray! Help me out please." Norman shouted.

Norman rubbed Lucas' back as he tried to calm him down.

Ray pinched the bridge of his nose and sighed. "Okay. Coming!" He called out.

"Hey! You heard my Dad said right?" Abbey's big brother said.

"Look! I heard what your Dad said! Just give me a moment! So shut up!" Ray growled.

Ray huffed and he went back to help Norman.

He picked up Lucas and he started to calm him down.

He gently rubbed his back and is gently bouncing him up and down as he walks back and forth.

Abbey went inside the room. "Sorry for my Dad and big brother." She bowed.

"Its okay. They both managed to calm down now." Norman smiled.

"Okay. Also, Dad told me that you have 10 minutes each to get ready and to get the rest of your family ready." Abbey said sheepishly.

Ray sighs and pinched the bridge of his nose. "Okay. Tell him I got it." Ray snarled.

Abbey nodded and left the room. Ray sighed and he kissed Lucas on the cheek. "Are you okay now, buddy?" Ray asked gently.

Lucas sniffled, but nodded.

Ray smiled and he gently patted his back. "Okay. Come on. Let's go and get you all ready. And you Norman.

You can get some more sleep, while I take care of the kids." Ray smiled.

Norman smiled and he leaned against the pillows. He cradled their new born child, named Lani.

Lani cooed in Norman's arms and is opening and closing his hands.

He pulled down his shirt and he fed Lani.

"You got startled earlier, huh? I'm sorry. You really are drinking a lot. You know, all of your older siblings drink a lot of milk as well when they were babies.

Me and Daddy are just happy that you were born safe and healthy.

That's what matters to the both of us." Norman smiled and he planted a kiss onto Lani's forehead.

Lani finished drinking, he cooed and he snuggled onto Norman's chest.

The kids were soon dressed along with Ray. "You can go and take a bath now Norman. There's still some hot water left.

I'll take care of Lani. Do you need any help taking a bath?" Ray asked.

"Yeah. I think I do need a bit of help." Norman said sheepishly.

"Okay. Let me go and ask Abbey to watch over the kids while I help you bathe." Ray smiled.

Once Abbey was with the kids, Ray helped Norman bathe.
