( A hotel? Beats being out on a boat- )
We had spent what felt like an eternity at sea, but eventually, we reached our destination. The boat journey had been far from comfortable, with each passing wave jolting me from my attempts at sleep. I'd given up on a restful nap and found myself trapped in an uncomfortable position. Shifting and squirming failed to bring any solace; it was like trying to sleep on a hayride.
Then, a voice broke the silence, pulling me from my half-slumber. "We're here! Singapore..." announced one of our companions. I tried to move, only to find a small girl resting on my shoulder. I gently nudged her awake, whispering to her, "Hey, we're here." She stirred and shifted, allowing me to sit up.
As we disembarked, the boat jolted once more, making me more awake than ever. The others yawned and stretched, and I followed suit, feeling grateful to be on solid ground once more. It was a strange feeling to be so far from home, surrounded by towering strangers and a young child.
Our leader, Mr. Joestar, addressed the group, discussing our next steps. I listened intently, pondering our shared destination despite our different objectives. Polnareff's addition to our group was unexpected, but perhaps together, we could unravel the mysteries surrounding Dio and the enigmatic Stands.
As we walked toward our destination, I leaned on Jotaro, feeling the exhaustion from the journey weigh on me. He stiffened for a moment but soon relaxed, and I continued to walk, unable to keep my eyes open any longer.
...
I later awoke while being carried piggyback fashion on Jotaro's back, the sun beaming down on us as we waited in line at a hotel reception desk. The heat made my hair frizz, but it was better than the chilly sea air. I dropped from his back. I then zipped up my jacket since I didn't want to walk into a reputable place of business looking like I'd been in a fight.
Observing the diverse crowd in the hotel lobby, I couldn't help but wonder about the lives of the people around us. Some looked dressed for a Sunday service, while others were in casual attire.
Amidst the murmur of the crowd, there was a hint of confusion and disappointment as the receptionist informed Mr. Joestar that there were no more large suites available. We had to settle for double rooms. Mr. Joestar quickly assigned roommates, and the girl who had joined us was the last to be assigned.
Polnareff and the girl were left to share a room, and I couldn't help but feel uneasy about that arrangement. I spoke up, objecting to it. "No way! We just met him, and I still don't feel comfortable around him, let alone Kakyoin!" I glanced over at Kakyoin, offering him an apologetic look. He understood and nodded, accepting my concerns.
"I agree," Avdol chimed in. "I'd rather share a room with this girl here, whom I've known for at least a day, than with someone I just met a couple of hours ago." The girl clung to my arm, voicing her agreement with enthusiasm.
However, Polnareff took it all in stride and made a dramatic bow. He looked irritated in jest and said, "Well, you brat."
Our accommodations sorted, we collected our keys and headed to our respective rooms. I glanced at the girl, and my key had the room number "1010" written on it. With a sigh of relief, I thought, "Finally, a place to rest and shower properly."
