I fell asleep that night. I woke up at 5:27 am from Casper barking loudly. I get up to see what it was.

I rub my eyes while Casper continues to bark. Something breaks. I run to the living room and see this guy? He had a gun

What do I do where did he come from? I see I somehow left my door unlocked and this guy think he is invited? Casper is gonna go after him.

Casper takes a run for him.

No, it looks like he's gonna shoot Casper.

I realized and went for it. To save Casper I couldn't let my best friend die in front of me.

Soon a gunshot went off

I woke up. I was at the hospital, I got shot. Luckily I'd rather me than Casper.

I had cameras in my house so we would know what happened.

I was laying in the hospital bed.

"Aurelia oh you're fine thank goodness!" Mom looked relieved "Yeah," I say slowly. "What happened? I mean like wow" she looked so anxious "Mom I have cameras in my living room so we can check those out," I say "Oh yeah we have the clips we can play them" she turns around "I would like to see them" I smile

She puts the clip on this tv. It plays

Casper is laying on the couch while I'm sleeping, he notices something and starts to bark. The guy breaks in and that's where I come in. You can see Casper going and I run in front and get shot.

How did I not die? I lost so much blood.

"Hey, mom. How did I live?" I say, she looks at me weirdly "Huh?" She looks confused and worried "How did I live, how did I survive? How? It seems like I lost a lot of blood" I say

"Oh Honey your dad was worried and he did what he could alright." She says slowly

What? You gotta be joking with me cmon...

"No no, he survived right?" I ask alarmed "Remember Aurelia. You lost a lot of blood." She starts to tear up

I'm silent. Shocked. Why would my dad do that? I would expect I meant nothing to him.

—past—

Aurelia: 11 years old

"Hey, dad you're finally home! I missed you" Aurelia gives her dad a big smile. "Getaway. Go clean or something" he ignores Aurelia.

He left a bottle of alcohol on the table by accident. Aurelia gets too curious and starts drinking it.

Later on, after she drank the whole bottle (halfway full) her dad started to look for it

"Aurelia, you didn't take that bottle on the counter, right?" He asks while looking at her weirdly (she looks very worn out) "Did you drink it...?" He stares at her in disappointment.

"I know you did, you fucking bastard." He starts to hit her everywhere and pulls out one of her teeth as a punishment.

"Dad please stop! I'm sorry" she cries "I hate you, stupid child," he says while pulling her hair "I wish you never were born" he yells

She's crying. Her mom won't be home until tomorrow.

For 3 hours he tortures her.

She was left with 6 bruises, lots of cuts, a missing tooth, and a black eye. She was a mess.

One day she was so tired of everything. She grabbed a rope and tried to hang herself.

Her mom walked in on her. Her mom saved her life

She wasn't grateful at all

"Hunny.. why would you do that?" She looks very concerned. "I don't want to live," Aurelia says without an expression.

Her mom was just shocked and didn't say anything. They left her alone.

I'm surprised he did that.

"We are heading home come on." She says while looking at the doctor "Oh no no not yet. She can't go home just yet" the doctor says

Huh, why not?

"She's still in a lot of pain. She needs to rest here for a while" the doctor looks at me. "Oh. Well that's fine, I guess" my mom looks very disappointed

I just remembered about Casper

"Mom, what happened to Casper?" I asked "He'll stay with me," says "Thanks mom," I say

Good at least I know he'll be ok
