Chattering could be heard inside, urging them to go and check it out but Jennie refused to move from her new safe space. And the raven had no plans of letting go either."You're not going to ask me?"
"I would love to hear. Only if you want me to." Jisoo squeezed her hand. Through her debilitated voice, Jennie spoke on her ages of experiences.
From being ignored on her own birthday just for them to celebrate Irene's achievement to graduating alone since they didn't find it such an important event as Irene's meeting. Jisoo could only carefully listen to her, straining from getting any closer to comfort Jennie. All these experiences felt awfully nostalgic to her.
"I'm so pathetic. Jealous of my own sister."
"There's nothing pathetic about your feelings. Negligence and favoritism is the only thing pathetic here." Her anger was getting heavier. "Everyone deserves parents but not every parent deserves a child."
"But clearly not everyone deserves to be first." The wrecked smile pained Jisoo.
"But you do. You'll always be my first." Jennie tenses with the words of affirmation. She couldn't bring herself to doubt the words that sounded so genuine and simply closed her eyes and relaxed her body on the shoulder again.
"I don't know when it happened but I'm filled with only you, Jennie." The heart-shaped lips moved into a smile of reassurance. "Until my heart stops beating...I'll only look at you, Kim Jennie."
"Promise me?" The infirm girl whispered slowly.
"I promise you, Jennie." Before they both could take it in, Jisoo chastely placed a kiss on her temple, the most innocent and pure action to seal her promise.
A fluttery feeling replaced the tormenting in Jennie's guts. Jisoo was blissfully content knowing she was here for Jennie when she could be even if this was just temporary.
"Even if Irene stood in front of you?" Jennie bemused. "What if it turns out you like her?"
"I like someone who's really into me and someone with a pretty smile." She looked to see the gummy smile attached to the younger's face.
"And they need to have really fluffy mandu cheeks." Jisoo's finger trailed along Jennie's skin, poking her face softly.
"Those are some really high standards to reach."
"And you somehow manage to reach all of them, Jennie Kim."
"Every time I'm around you, my pulse increases, my breath shortens, and my temperature skyrockets."
"I think I'm allergic to you." Jennie bit her bottom lip, playfully pushing Jisoo back.
"Oh boy, what are we going to do about that?"
"What do you think we should do?"
"I heard exposure therapy works very well." A smirk back on her face, Jisoo got closer to Jennie, overtaking her personal space.
Was this right? Jisoo didn't know. But she was tired of holding back. And when she saw Jennie close her eyes, anticipating her move, she couldn't stop herself anymore.
