"We come and go." Edmund tried explaining as he looked around the room.
"Aslan," Lucy smiled at a gold plate with the face of a lion. "Look, Susan's bow and arrows." She wandered around.
"Lucy," Caspian called as he dug in his cabinet. Turning, the girl saw a dagger and potion.
"My healing cordial, and dagger!" She walked over excitedly. Daria stood in a corner awkwardly, obviously they were friends, maybe she should leave.
"Oh, may I?" Lucy asked before grabbing the things.
"Of course, they're yours." Caspian said.
"Peter's sword." Edmund said from across the room. Daria moved to lean on the desk.
"Yes, I looked after it as promised." Caspian placed the box down and opened another cabinet door.
"Here, hold it if you wish." Caspian handed the thing over.
"No, no. It's yours." Edmund shook his head. "Peter gave it to you." Daria sensed some tension in that statement.
"I did save this for you though." Caspian turned and took out a torch. Tossing it to the boy, he smiled. "Thanks." Edmund smirked."Since you left us, the Giants of the North have surrendered unconditionally." Caspian pointed at a map. "And then we defeated the Calormen armies at the Great Desert. There's peace across all of Narnia." Caspian told them with a proud grin. Daria couldn't help but blush a bit, looking down and her crossed feet to hide it.
"Peace?" Edmund repeated.
"In just three years." Caspian nodded.
"And have you found yourself a queen in those three years?" Lucy asked with a large grin, pushing some of her hair behind her ear. Daria smiled at the girl with a chuckle.
Caspian smiled and glanced at Daria. "No. Not one to compare with your sister." He looked at the table.
"Hang on," Edmund butted in. "So if there are no wars to fight, and no one's in trouble, then why are we here?"
"That's a good question, I've been asking myself the same thing." Caspian shrugged nonchalantly.
"Well, there is the slaver problem." Daria piped in finally. Caspian nodded grimly.
"Oh I'm so sorry, we haven't been formally introduced. What's your name?" Lucy looked over with a genuine smile.
"This is Daria, she's helped out a lot." Caspian smiled at the woman. "You see, before I took back the throne from my uncle, he tried to kill my fathers closest friends and most loyal supporters," Caspian turned to a bored with sketches of the men, drawn out by none other than the barmaid. "The seven lords of Telmar."
"My father was one of them." Daria said. "They tried to flee to the Lone Islands, but no one's heard from them since."
"So you think something's happened to them?" Edmund asked, analyzing the drawings.
"Well, if it has, it's my duty to find out." Caspian said solemnly.
"What's east of the Lone Islands?" Lucy said as she walked next to Daria in front of the map.
"Uncharted waters." Drinian said. "Things you could barley imagine."
"Tales of sea serpents and worse." Daria added with a smirk. Lucy and Edmund shared a glance.
"Sea serpents?" Edmund chuckled.
"Alright, Dar, that's enough tall tales." Caspian butted in taking a bite of an apple.-
"Where sky and water meet, where the wave grow ever sweet, doubt not, you, Reepicheep, to find all you seek, there is the utter east, doubt not-" Reepicheep sang as he perched on the lion carved in the boat.
"That's pretty." Lucy complimented as she walked up behind Daria.
"Ah!" The mouse jumped slightly. "Oh, oh. Thank you." Reepicheep nodded as he walked towards the girls. "A dryad sang it to me when I was a mouseling."
"It is pretty." Daria smiled sweetly. "He sings it a lot. It's very calming." The older girl explained with a glance to Lucy.
"I can't divine the meaning, but, uhm, I've never forgotten the words." He explained shortly.
"What do you think is past the Lone Islands, Reep?" Lucy questioned her friend. Daria listened with curiosity.
"Well, I've been told the furthest east one can sail is to the end of the world." Reepicheep informed them.
"Aslan's Country." Daria piped in. "It's said to be beautiful. A land of color and life."
"Do you really believe there is such a place?" Lucy glanced between her Narnian friends.
"Well, we have nothing, if not belief." Reepicheep told the girls.
"So, you think you could actually sail there?" Lucy's smile faltered.
"Well, there's only one way of finding that out." Reepicheep suggested calmly. "I can only hope I will one day earn the right to see it."
"Oh Reepicheep, you've way past earned the right." Daria smiled at him.
The mouse chuckled softly. "Your Majesty," He bowed. "My lady." The two girls smiled at him.
Lucy quickly looked over the edge, startling Daria quite a bit.
"Aslan, Queen Lucy, you scared me." The barmaid told her, putting her hand to her chest. Lucy didn't answer and instead motioned to the sea. Daria, looking over as well, caught sight of the glassy mermaids. Lucy smiled brightly and waved excitedly. Daria too smiled.
"They are very gorgeous, aren't they?" She glanced to the younger girl.
"You don't have to use formalities, Daria. Just Lucy is perfectly fine." The valiant queen told her. Daria smiled and jokingly bowed. Lucy laughed and swatted at the older woman's arm.The crewmen shout and cheer as Caspian and Edmund cross their swords.
"Come on!" Caspian taunted as they ran around the deck. Their swashbuckling ends as Caspian gets the edge of his sword to Edmunds neck. The crewmen clapped and cheered.
"You've grown stronger, my friend." Caspian complements as he swings his sword around.
"Seems I have." Edmund chuckled.
"My king!" Daria called, gaining the attention of the men in deck. "My I have a go?"
The crewmen cheered for the barmaid they had grown to respect, wishing her to have a sword fight with their king. Caspian chuckled.
"Alright, but I warn you, I've been training since I could walk." He informed her as he tossed her a sword. Daria caught it with ease and got into a perfect ready position.
"How long have you been training to be a cocky bastard?" She retorted with a smirk.
"You can't speak to me like that." Caspian shook his head with a chuckle.
"Oh, my apologies." She bowed dramatically. "How long have you been training to be a cocky bastard, my king?"
Caspian charged her with a smirk of his own, and Daria dodged with ease.
"You must forget, I'm your superior!" Caspian called to the confident woman.
"And you must forget, I just don't care!" Her smirk grew and she just about disarmed him. The crewmen roared with laughter at the woman's antics.
After a few more clashes, Daria was able to flick the sword out of Caspian's hands, pushing his back against the edge of the boat with the sword to his neck.
"Well, that's just awkward." She chuckled as she backed up, handing the sword to a stunned crew man. The deck was quiet before all the workers erupted into cheers, clapping Daria on the back. Caspian sheathed his sword and walked towards Daria, the crew grew quiet again. No one had beaten Caspian.
"My lady of the Dawn Treader." He bowed. Daria laughed and as Caspian stood back up, she high fives him. The crew roared with cheers yet again.
"Alright, back to work!" Drinian yelled and Daria just chuckled at Caspian.ɪᴛ's ᴊᴜsᴛ ʜᴀʀᴍʟᴇss ғʟɪʀᴛɪɴɢ, ʀɪɢʜᴛ?
