Soon, the infamous green mist surrounded them. Daria could hear distant whispers, but no specific words. Until...
"Daria!" The girl in question turned quickly. "Daria!" It came again. This time, she caught sight of a face she never wanted to be witness to again.
"Mother." She mumbled under her breath. No one heard her, getting caught up in their own horrors.
"Daria...come to mummy. You know mummy loves you." The mist cooed. Daria stood her ground and glared at it.
"No." She shook her head. The mist faltered, but quickly recovered and continued.
"You know I love you, my dearest. Until you left me! You left me to live with that damned lord! You harlet! Sleeping with the king now are you? Are you that desperate to betray me?" The mist shouted. Daria felt tears prick in her eyes, but she refused to let them fall. Sniffing quickly, the Lynx woman's hands curled into fists and looked the mist directly in the eyes.
"No, I didn't leave you, you left me." She mumbled so no one else but the mist could hear her. Daria never backed down, and soon, the mist just left.
Suddenly, a loud groaning was heard and it seemed everyone snapped out of their dazes.
"Keep away!" A man's voice boomed. Daria rushed over to the Pevensie siblings.
"Keep away!" The voice boomed again.
"Who's there?" Daria leaned over the edge.
"We do not fear you!" Caspian added.
"Nor I, you!" The voice countered. Daria furrowed her eyebrows, what kind of monster was this?
"Ed, your torch." Daria smacked the boys chest with the back of her hand. He nodded and grabbed the metal thing, clicking it on and pointing to the rock the voice came from.
When the light hit the rock, a man stood ideally by. No monster was in sight, unless you counted his nest of hair.
"Keep away!" He yelled again.
"We will not leave." Caspian said sternly.
"You will not defeat me!" The scruffy man held up a shiny solder sword.
"Holy-!" Daria jumped up with a smile. "Caspian, Cas! His sword! It's the last one!" The man in question heard her joy and moved his sword behind his back.
"Lord Rhoop!" Caspian rushed down the stairs to stand next to Daria. The man moved to a different part of his rock.
"You do not own me!" He shouted.
"Stand down!" Caspian motioned to the line of archers behind them. "Let's get him on board, quickly."
Almost immediately, the men began twirling ropes to throw to the other side, however they stopped when Eustace clapped his wings and scooped up the scruffy lord.
When he fell to the deck, he began swinging his sword around violently.
"Be calm, my lord!" Caspian tried to stop the mad man.
"Off me, demon!" He yelled, slinging the sword around his body and slicing Daria's upper arm.
"Ouch! You piece of-" Daria touched the wound and winced.
"Dar!" Caspian shushed her. "No, my lord. We are not here to hurt you. I am your king, Caspian."
The man's face grew paler that it already was. "Caspian?" He turned shakily and gasped at the sight of the young man. "My lord!" His hand went to touch his face in disbelief. "You should not have come. There's no way out of here." He warned them sternly. "Quick, turn this ship about before it's too late!"
"We have the sword, let's go!" Edmund pushed.
"Let's turn her about, Drinian." Caspian turned and quickly ran to the wheel.
"Aye, aye, Your Majesty." The captain turned as well. Lord Rhoop turned quickly with his hand out.
"Do not think!" He yelled as a warning. "Do not let it know your fears, or it will become them."
Almost immediately, the image of a sea serpent flashed across Daria's mind. She could tell Edmund thought the same, as he closed his eyes and mumbled.
"Oh no." He whispered.
"Edmund, Daria? What did you just think of?" Lucy asked nervously.
"Oh, I'm sorry." Edmund ran to the other edge of the ship.
"I guess we should have listened to Caspian." Daria cringed before running after him. The rocks nearest the ship began to move and the crew was tossed back as the ship jerked to the side.
Caspian helped Daria up quickly and pulled her to the edge.
"Look! What is that?" He pointed to a coiling beast under the murky water.
"It's too late. It's too late!" Rhoop yelled, running around the boat.
"It's gone under the boat! It's under the boat!" A crewman yelled. Lucy turned to see little Gael trying to hide from the beast, but ended up being closest to it.
"Gael!" Lucy yelled. The girl in question screamed as the head if the monster came into view.
Lucy ran to the girl in purple. "Come on, run!"
"Don't let me down! No fear, no retreat!" Reepicheep yelled as he and Eustace flew into view.
The dragon huffed out a breath and bright flames enveloped the monsters face. It screeched and turn away. Eustace grabbed onto its face and dug his claws into it. It roared again and slammed against the ship, trying desperately to get the dragon off his face.
Reepicheep, who was stabbing the beasts head, was tossed onto the ship. "Eustace, hold on! Hold on!" He reminded, but the tuckered out dragon was thrown to the other side of the ship. He quickly regained his composure and flew back to the monster, however, this time he was ready for the boy turned dragon. Grabbing the orange created in its mouth, he quickly dove back into the water.
"Eustace!" Daria yelled as she, the Pevensie siblings, and Caspian ran to the edge.
Bouncing back up, the sea monster tossed the dragon into a rock. He laid down and huffed. The monster, sending defeat, tried to take a bite of the dragon, but was quickly turned away as Eustace breathed out his fire once more.
Lord Rhoop pushed forward, sword in hand. "Out, creature!" He yelled before tossing the blade into Eustace's shoulder.
"No, no! The sword!" Caspian yelled.
"Eustace!" Lucy cringed. The dragon huffed and turned to fly away. "No! Come back!"
"We're all doomed! Doomed!" Rhoop yelled again and again. "Turn this ship about!" The madman pushed a crewman away and started pulling the wheel.
"Stop him! Someone stop him!" Another man yelled.
The Dawn Treader jerked harshly to the side and the crew once again went tumbling over. Drinian tapped Rhoop on the shoulder and punched him right in the nose. The weak man toppled over.
"Raft crew...to your rowing position!" He yelled an order. "Oars at double speed!"
