They were very close friends who just worried about each other. Nothing more, nothing less. But they why did she secretly enjoy him fussing over her, and grabbing her face, and standing very close to her...?
"Daria?" Caspian startled her. "Are you okay?" He placed his hand on her back.
"Yeah, yeah. Why wouldn't I be?" The woman offered him a smile, but Caspian knew better.
"I don't know, just making sure." He played it off.
"What did you mean when you said you made them invisible for their own good?" Lucy asked as they followed the man into the library room.
"It seemed the easiest way to protect them from the evil." Coriakin sighed.
Edmund glanced at Caspian and Daria. "You mean the mist?"
"I mean what lies behind the mist." He motioned for the group to walk ahead of him.
Near the ceiling, books were flying around and patches of the night sky swirled.
"Whoa." Daria chuckled. Coriakin threw a scroll and when it touched the ground, a map appeared.
"That's quiet beautiful." Eustace looked in amazement. Lucy and Edmund stared at their cousin in shock.
"I mean for a make believe map of a make believe world." He quickly recovered. Daria snorted a laugh and crouched down, looking at the moving artwork on the boarder of the map.
"Here is the source of your troubles." Coriakin pointed and the map moved rapidly. "Dark Island. A place were evil lurks." The map showed a large, tentacle like island that sprouted green mist and dark shadows.
"It can take any form." Coriakin warned as he walked around the map. "It can make your darkest dreams come true. It seeks to corrupt all goodness...to steal the light from this world."
"How do we stop it?" Lucy asked determinedly.
"You must break its spell. That sword you carry," The professor pointed to Edmund. "There are six others."
"Have you seen them?" Daria piped in.
"Yes."
"The seven lords, they passed through here?" Caspian finally spoke up.
"Indeed." Coriakin walked through the map.
"Where were they headed?" Caspian pushed.
"Where I sent them." The map began to move again. "To break the spell, you must follow the Blue Star to Ramandu's Island."
"That place looks familiar. But I've never been." Daria leaned closer to it.
"Oh, my dear, you have." Coriakin stated before changing the subject. "There, the seven swords must be laid at Aslan's table. Only then can their true magical power be released."
Caspian glanced at Drinian behind him.
"But beware, you are all about to be tested." Coriakin warned.
"Tested? I didn't realize we came back to school." Daria crossed her arms.
"Until you lay down the seventh sword, evil has the upper hand. It will do everything in it's power to tempt you." The professor glanced around. Caspian looked from the map to Daria who was rubbing her temples.
"Be strong." Coriakin looked directly at Lucy. "Don't fall to temptation. To defeat the darkness out there, you must defeat the darkness inside yourself."
"You should write a book, professor." Daria chuckled.
"Laugh all you want." Coriakin rose his voice. "But keep these thoughts in mind. Or you may not survive."
