This chapter is an interlude chapter marking the start of the big changes for the chapters beyond. None of the main characters will be here, as it is focused on Alastor the entire time. But there will be important information about what he has planned for the future.
The next chapter would start back up with the main characters, with some glow-ups to say the least.
- ⭐- (a more simplistic style of this to mark the start of the changes! Also Bob here is preparing something. Is that a small box, Bob? What are you doing?)
It has been four months.
It has been four months since the last villainization attempt, and all Alastor did in the four months is overthink. He could not stop thinking about his failed attempt. All he did in the four months was replay the previous attempts over and over again. It worried him. He would often isolate himself in either his office or his room. He did not even bother to step out and take a breather.
Throughout his isolation, he had heard many changes from Simon, the worker who had brought him bubble tea on the day of the failed attempt. Alastor had heard that the construction is still underway and all the workers have been putting in suggestions to improve the base. He had also gotten some news that the new uniforms had arrived for the workers, and two workers got engaged and are planning to get married. Alastor was happy about the news, but the happy news was cut short when he heard that the guard who admired the Christmas lights got wrongfully fired.
"Why did-?" Alastor raised a brow, "How did Jack, that guard, get fired?"
"He said nothing wrong but this involves that new boss for the guard section ever since it was introduced. Anyways Jack came out as aro-ace to his friends and the boss in charge of the guards overheard and fired him the next day. But don't worry, I fired that boss." Simon answered, plopping down some files, "Here are the updates of the last month."
"It's a good thing you did. I aim to make this workplace supportive to all my workers no matter their sexuality, gender, race or religion. I don't want anyone to be treated unfairly in this lair."
"Ever since the leader of the guards got fired, a lot of the workers came out. They feel more supported."
"That's good to know but what about Jack? I saw potential in him."
"I already sent him an email inviting him back to work at the lair. No interview is needed. Firing that mean leader, however, was a good decision."
"A good decision indeed. Great to see things are beginning to get resolved. Oh, question, who are the two workers getting engaged?"
"Evan and Natalie?"
"Oh, that couple? They're really cute together. Send them my best wishes on their engagement."
"Will do, master." Simon nodded, "Which reminds me. Georgia, the receptionist, is on maternity leave."
"I know. I sent her my wishes. How's Mia handling the receptionist job?"
"She's getting used to it. Very curious as ever."
"That's good to know, anything else I should know?" Alastor looked through the files.
"Well, the vending machines in the cafeteria broke down so we're working on fixing them. Also today at one in the afternoon is a whole worker meeting and you are expected to be there in the cafeteria. Workers' orders. You know where it is, right?"
"No," Alastor closed the files and put them aside. "What is the meeting on?"
"It's regarding what the rooms would be after construction. A lot of our workers put in their suggestions and voted on the top five and are waiting for your approval. Will you be there? They are all waiting to see you."
