ANOTHER. LONG. CHAPTER. But I don't care, writing these chapters is a blast.
I may give myself a tiny break from writing these chapters. It is certainly fun to write these chapters but I need a break from writing. Possibly a few days or a week just so I can relax and fill up my energy. I'll see.
I want to thank everyone for the advice in the last chapter. Self-doubt is something I had to get off my chest and the words of advice touched my heart. Thank you ❤️
Also, just a reminder that the first and last sections of these Slides Nights are flashbacks focused on Carol. And although Carol, Sabrina and Phoebe had moved out of their old hometown in the last chapter, there is still a flashback here. The flashbacks in this chapter are set during the time House 8 moved into their new home.
And I am saying this as a reminder to avoid confusion.
Enjoy the long chapter!

(Jay is going on a drive to visit someone)As she walked down the unfamiliar pathway leading to her new house, Carol noticed how strange the place felt compared to her old home. It felt out of the ordinary.
Usually, Carol would wake up in her old bedroom and look out the window to the blanketed grey sky. Usually, she would head out of her family home and carry an umbrella to prepare herself. Usually, she would roll her eyes at the pitter-patter of Wallowsberg's rain on the classroom window at the end of the school day.
But things are different now. She's away from her old home and the new area was the complete opposite of Wallowsberg.
Thetowne (pronounced "The-town"). A place so cheerful, much sunnier, and bigger as well. And the people were much friendlier as well, unlike her old home where everyone envied each other and constantly put their noses in each others' businesses.
She turned a corner into Zodiac Street, carrying shopping and grocery bags as she strutted on the stone path. She was glad House 8 was near the corner- made it easier for her as the bags' handles made her fingers sting.
She stepped up on the stone pathway leading to the front door and rang the doorbell. She waited for Phoebe to answer as she was home.
Ding-dong!
No answer. Carol placed the bags on the floor. She rang the doorbell again.
Ding-dong!
What's taking her too long? She fished out her phone and heard someone call out her name. She turned and noticed the residents of House 4 walking past with their dogs. Pete led the trio as he was being dragged by his dogs pulling by their leashes. Colin followed behind him and gave a quick wave to Carol. Skyler lingered behind the two and gave a nod in Carol's direction.
Carol waved back and watched her three new friends leave. She immediately checked her phone and noticed three notifications:
Mother dearest
Have a great day sweetie! We love you so much5 missed calls from Unknown Number
Phoebs
won't be able to answer the door. gonna shower then sleep. soz xCarol rolled her eyes and chuckled. Of course, she should have seen this coming. It was a good thing each of the house members got their own keys in case of emergencies. She reached inside her jeans pockets and fished out her keys before she unlocked the doors.
