Dad I'm Sorry

Once he is home, he told Bai HanQi that he went to YouQi's hometown, so Bai HanQi wouldn't make a fuss about where he was staying these past few days. 

  Bai LuoYin wasted no time at all. He searched for information about universities all over the world. After he studied all the information he finally set his mind to go to James Cook University in Cairns, Australia. He is going to take engineering as his major. He knows it is not aerospace engineering like he wanted to, but the more he learned about Cairns, the more he wanted to go there. It is tropical, so the weather should be warm. Bai LuoYin is very sensitive to cold. And now that he doesn't have Gu Hai to warm him up, he needed to find a warm place. Cairns, even tho' it is not a big city but seems lively enough since it is a tourist destination. 

Bai LuoYin made arrangements with the agents, the agents will take care of all the paperwork needed for the university. He asked Jiang Yuan to transfer the money needed for everything, but he didn't tell her which university he will be taking and he made Jian Yuan promise not to let his father know that it was Jiang Yuan money that he used to go to Australia. 

After all the paperwork are set and done, Bai LuoYin prepared himself to talk to his father.

"Dad, can I talk to you for a moment?" Bai LuoYin called his dad who was just cleaning the dishes.

Bai HanQi finished his task and sit next to Bai LuoYin, "What is it, son? What do you want to talk about? you seem to be very serious..." But before Bai LuoYin was able to answer, he asked again, "Eh by the way, how come I never see DaHai again? Where is he? Is he busy?" 

Bai LuoYin sighed, "Dad, I need to tell you something...." He paused for a moment, then continued, "I'm going to go abroad dad, for university." 

Bai HanQi with a puzzled face looked at Bai LuoYin, "What do you mean, son? I thought you are going to BeiDa (Beijing Daxue/ Beijing University)? Didn't you get an offer for a scholarship there? How come suddenly you want to go abroad?"

"I also got a scholarship in Australia,  dad. One of my teachers saw my grades and my English ability so she submitted a scholarship application to a university in Australia and I got it. Aren't you proud of me dad?" Bai LuoYin lied to his father. 

"Of course I'm so proud of you son. My son got scholarship to a university in Australia, who wouldn't be proud? I'm so happy, it made me cry.." Bai HanQi shed his tears. He felt an indescribable feeling in his heart. On one side he didn't want his son to leave but on the other hand, he wants his son to reach for the star.  

"Really dad? Is it ok for me to go? I feel bad about leaving you, grandma, and grandpa alone."

"Don't be ridiculous, we will be fine. Just make sure that you come home from time to time to visit us, that is enough." 

"I'm sorry I lied to you dad..." Bai LuoYin heart whispered his remorse. He didn't want to lie, but he doesn't want his father to know the real reason why he finally decided to go abroad. 

As Bai HanQi was about to stand up, he suddenly remember something, "How about DaHai, Yinzi? Did he know that you are going t go abroad?"

"No, he knows, Dad. He will also be going with me. That's why he didn't come because he is also busy preparing everything." ......... "Another lie..." Bai LuoYin thought.

"Oh, he got scholarship too?"

"No, his father will pay for everything."

"Ah... I always know my son is the best! Without money, he can accomplish so many great things!" Bai HanQi couldn't hide his proud feeling about his son and it made Bai LuoYin heart feel like being stabbed by hundreds of invisible needles. He whispered sorry dad, sorry dad, sorry dad, over and over again silently in his heart.
