Taismo: Cosmo's change

Chapter 8

Just before the missiles hit him, Tails accepted Cosmo's death with a smile, he was sure that soon he was going to see her again, that was enough for him.
When he closed his eyes and said that he was going to rejoin Cosmo soon, he waited a bit, happy to know that it was the end of his pain.

When it was the time for the rocket to hit their target, Tails heard a deafening noise, a really powerful light that would have blinded him if he wouldn't had his eyes closed, a strong shockwave which didn't have much effect on him because he was already sitting with his back on a tree, and a heat which was actually too hot, it burnt him a little.

However, he felt almost no pain, he asked himself if that was what happens when you die, but that didn't matter to him.
The only important thing was that he wanted to see Cosmo once he opened his eyes, so he waited a sign of her.

He waited a long time, then he felt a soft hand caressing his cheek, he smiled, sure that it was Cosmo.
He said: "Cosmo, please, say a word, let me be sure that it's you, then I'll open my eyes."

But Cosmo never said a word, Tails was getting a bit worried, but he didn't change his mind, just hearing Cosmo's voice would have made him open his eyes.

Tails got some more caresses, after those he felt something different, but it wasn't what he expected.
Cosmo just slapped him, Tails got worried and opened his eyes saying: "WHAT?"
He asked himself why Cosmo did it, then he noticed what he had all around.

He was kinda locked in sort of cage made of plant vines, he couldn't understand where he was, but he thought: "Definitely, I'm NOT dead, I felt pain from that slap."

Tails: "Where am I? What's happening?"
Once he said this, he noticed that all those plant vines started retreating, going back in the ground and freeing him.

Tails got up and looked all around himself, he found himself exactly in the same place where he was before the missiles exploded, he noticed that there was nobody around.
Tails: "WHAT? What happened? WHAT WERE THOSE PLANT VINES AND WHAT'S HAPPENING? I must search for more answers!"
So he started running away, asking himself what actually happened.

He made a few meters, then he saw a plant vine appearing right in front of him with the U shape, he tried to stop but he couldn't and he ended up right inside it.
The plant vine started grabbing him tight like a serpent, he didn't think twice and started struggling, trying to get free from that hold.

Sadly for him, more plant vines emerged from the ground, trying to grab him, he kept struggling in order to get free, until something captured his attention, a plant vine on the ground had a strange shape, it was a word: "TAILS"

He stopped struggling to understand more, once he did the plant vines retreated, leaving him free space, except a plant vine which was holding his ankle.
Tails just noticed that the plant vines were only trying to block him, he never got harmed or hurt by them at all.

He looked deeply where he saw his name, then another writing appeared: "It's me, Cosmo"
Tails screamed in surprise: "WHAT?"

(When I'll write "Cosmo:" I mean that Tails read that from the ground, and the writings are made of plant vines.)

Tails: "How is it possible?"
Cosmo: "Sorry, I still must understand more, and it's long to explain."
Tails: "Please, tell me more."

Once Tails said this, he got his ankle free easily, then he started flying, in order to read everything better.

Cosmo: "I think my body just fused with the planet, don't worry, I'm not dead and I'll be back with you like we all wish a day... please, don't be sad and wait until that moment."
Tails: "How long will it take Cosmo?"
Cosmo: "I have no idea, but please, be brave, I know you can! Do it for me."

Tails landed and yelled quite desperate: "I NEED YOU HERE NOW!"
A big plant vine appeared from the ground with 2 more on its sides, they shaped like a person (a body and two arms).

Tails probably understood what it was supposed to be, so he rushed to it and hugged tight, crying quite loud, then the plant vines hugged him back, Tails closed his eyes and all of that situation made him think that he wasn't hugging a plant vine, he was hugging Cosmo.

Once Tails calmed down, he caressed the plant vine and said: "Definitely it's you Cosmo, I'm sure of it."
He opened his eyes and looked forward, there were more writings.

Cosmo: "Please Tails, Sonic and Amy needs you, they think we're dead... I'm sure you can imagine how they're feeling now."
Tails: "I understand Cosmo... but tell me more first, how are you doing this?"
Cosmo: "This what?"
Tails: "The plants... can you control them?"
Cosmo: "Something like that Tails, I'm still realizing it too."
Tails: "I need more of you Cosmo."

The plant vine he was hugging retreated inside the planet, Tails felt immediately desperate, then he read: "I'll always be here for you Tails, wherever you are, I'll be there... but now you have to help our friends, I see them home and they're totally devastated, please."

Tails sighed, but he understood that Cosmo was right, so he cleaned his eyes and said: "Ok Cosmo... I'm going."
He headed for their home, but he felt Cosmo's missing during his way to their home, he stopped and looked back, then he forced himself to don't think about it and continued his way.

Once he got there, he ringed the bell, he heard them crying really loud, and that sound became always louder, meaning that someone was coming to answer.
Sonic opened the door, being the most devastated possible, but once he saw Tails he couldn't believe to his eyes.

Tails didn't know what to say, he only waited for Sonic to make his move.
Sonic jumped on him screaming: "TAILS!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

Tails couldn't hold him and falled back on the ground, glad to make Sonic so happy.
Sonic's tears changed, they weren't anymore for sadness or desperation, they were joy tears.

Once Amy heard Sonic screaming Tails'name, she rushed outside to understand what happened.
She saw Tails alive and Sonic hugging him, she couldn't resist and jumped on that hug.

Sonic and Amy asked themselves how that was possible, but they didn't truly care about that, they saw that their friend was alive, nothing else actually mattered.
