Alyssa POV
"ONE, TWO, ONE TWO JUMP! Last one! One, two, one two Jump!"
Inatasan ako ni Coach na maging team captain, and I'm training the new members.
I can see in them that they have potential.
I just hope that they won't back out because of the training.
After the cool down exercise, I face them.
"Thank you guys for the cooperation, you may take your leave now. Hope to see you tomorrow."
They say thank you and I smiled as a return.
I waited for them to leave before I grab my water bottle and sat on the bench.
I take a deep breath then as soon I close my eyes, all the problems I'm dealing came back.
I know that I'm the only person here at the gym because everyone left.
I grab the ball beside me and throw it in the air and wait for it to come down then put all of my strength when my palm meet the ball.
"H-- woah, easy miss."
My eyes scan the room and shock to see there's someone standing at the side of the court looking at the ball as it bounce.
When our eyes met.
We're both speechless.
"Ahmm." She fix her stance. "Are--- I mean, you're the captain of the volleyball right?"
Natakot ko ba sya?
I stand up and absentmindedly nod.
I reach for my tumbler again and drink to compose myself before looking back at her.
"I'm sorry if I scar--"
"Oh, you have nothing to apologize. Sa totoo lang, I was amazed by that!" Then she ran towards the ball and pick it up.
"I hope I can do that." It catches my attention when she throw the ball up.
Her stance looks like she knows ho---
"Because I can't." I can't help but laugh not because she didn't hit the ball but because of her reaction.
"hindi ka naman tumatawa because I can't play right?" Her tone of voice is naninigurado.
"Of course not, it's just... The way you react.*sigh*" I smiled at her. "I'm sorry---"
"Don't wanna hear it." She cut me off. "By the way my name is Sam, I'm new here. The head in cheerdance told me that I need to meet you daw."
Ah, yung schedule.
"Alyssa" I put my hand infront of her para makipag shake hands and she accepted it.
Nakakahawa yung ngiti nya.
"You look much better when you smile."
"Then thank you for making me smile."
"It is a pleasure to know na akong ang dahilan ng pag ngiti mo." She genuinely said.
I just met her and have a small talk with her
but how she managed to make me feel special.
Binitawan ko na yung kamay nya, then turn around to reach for my bag.
"You don't have to go here, dapat hinihingi mo na lang kay Vivian yung contact ko, I could have just send it to you."
"She also said that, but I want to meet you in person because I want to meet new people na rin. Tapos when I'm on my way here I can't help but to notice almost everyone is talking about you."
Then I remember that she saw me earlier and feel embarrassed.
"And I'm glad I did."
And I'm glad she can't see my face right now.
Alyssa, act normal.
"Ahmm, here's the schedule." Then I hand her the copy. And since she's here. And I remember the other thing Vivian said. "You said you're new here, you're applying for cheerdance club?"
"Yup"
"Hindi ka pa nakakapag fill up ng form?" Paninigurado ko muna.
"Well, hindi pa. Vivian said na she doesn't have the copy. Maybe tomorrow?"
I pick up my things and put it in my bag.
"Come with me, we can get a copy---"
"No need, I can wait for tomorrow naman. Maabala pa kita lalo. I can see that you're exhausted, you need to rest oh, you should go home."
"Don't tell me, the reason why you're still here you're still practice. And If I based my judgement on the things I heard about you and that one spike I just witness. You are already a pro." she look at me in my eyes. "Listen, sometimes it's okay to take a break."
Why do I feel like she knows what I've been going through?
The way she said it, for me it has a two meaning.
"Thank you for your concern. But really though, we can--"
She grab my hand and gave me the ball.
"Take a rest okay? Nice meeting you!" She put her hand on my shoulder before running as she waving goodbye.
I look down at the ball on my hand and then look back where she was a while ago.
