Pandu lay still on the majestic bed. Kunti and Madri were on either sides of the bed, sobbing.

Pandavas were still shocked by the sudden happening. They hopefully glanced at the royal physician, waiting for his response after the medical checkup of the emperor.

"Poison" The physician said out loud, turning towards the five Pandavas, "Poison can be sensed in Samrat's blood."

Draupadi's eyes widened as she looked at the cold figure of her father-in-law. "By which means did poison enter the body?"

The physician shook his head in disapproval, and looked at Draupadi with his experienced eyes, "It cannot be concluded, Maharani."

Arjun was bewildered by the unusual turn of events. Wasn't that his father all good walking on his feet, when abruptly he gets poisoned? His hawk-like eyes scanned the surroundings keenly, and stopped on the empty plate of food, "Food" He said gathering everyone's attention. "There is a high chance of him getting poisoned via the food."

Yudhishthir thought for a brief second before nodding his head in approval, "We cannot deny it."

Their thoughts were disturbed by a small sound.

"Arya!" Kunti and Madri gasped as they saw Pandu struggling to open his eyes. Draupadi quickly fetched a glass of water and handed it over to Kunti. Madri massaged his feet and palms continuously to provide some warmth to him. Arjun rushed to his side and helped him sit on the bed aligning some cushions along the curve of his back.

"Call an immediate court meeting right now!" Pandu breathed out with half-open eyes.

Murmurs echoed in amongst the four walls of the enormous royal court of Hastinapur. The dust from the sand-clock swiftly poured from the upper jar to the lower one, and a loud bang made everyone quiet down as it indicated the middle of the night.

Their posture stiffened as the guard announced the arrival of the Emperor and Empress of Aryavrat, and they respectfully bowed down.

The Pandavas, The Pandavpatnis, Kauravs, and Mahamantri Vidur stood up from their seats, as a sign of esteem.

As Pandu sat on the diamond-studded throne, he announced in a feeble voice, "As you all know, my dear ministers and citizens, I am now getting older and weaker." He coughed. " I want to hand over this throne, to my eldest son, and the crown prince of Hastinapur, Yudhisthir!"

The ministers were overjoyed. The kingdom had always flourished under Yudhishthir's guidance, unlike Duryodhan, who had always wanted power without responsibilities.

Arjun and Draupadi beamed brightly like all others as they glanced at Yudhishthir who had a soft smile on his face.

Dhritarashtra trembled with anger, but it wasn't like he could do anything to change the fact- Yudhishthir was the eldest son of the family, Crowned Prince, and the King's son, so he was going to be the next king.
