~ IN THE STARS ~

" I'm still holding on to everything that dead and gone,
I don't wanna say goodbye 'cuz this one means forever. "

" Now you're in the stars and six feet never felt so far,
Here I'm alone between the heavens and the embers. "

Arjun stumbled into the freezing morgue. The cold room could not numb the wild creature that thundered in his rib cage.

The warm breath of his, formed a misty fog in the bitter air.

His eyes zeroed on the only casket present in the middle of the room.

His legs were reluctant to even move forwards.

Yeah, a sad laugh left his lips as he kept convincing himself, there was no way in hell that she would leave him alone in cruel, wide world.

Keep telling yourself, Arjun, The devil sitting on his shoulder mocked into his ear.

No! Arjun immediately shut him down. After years of twist and turn, of blocked exits and gates, of walking on the thorny path of life had he found the rose. Was it just to watch it wither away?

The rose and thorn, the happiness and sorrow are linked together, Arjun. The thorns stay, the flower doesn't.

Arjun took a deep breath, battling with his monsters. She promised that this would last forever, didn't she? And Yagyaseni kept her promises.

He took unsteady strides towards the casket and raised his hand to open it. In its way, his hand hesitated. Clenching his hand into a fist, he dug his nails deep into the palm of his skin. His eyes shut tightly. His jaw clenched as he grit his teeth. Adrenaline rushed through his body, and the poor organ furiously pumped in his chest. The the blood in his vein sang. Shivers passed down his spine and uneasiness pooled in the pit of his stomach, gnawing at his heart. He did not realize when his nails drawed out blood from his palms.

His brain might had short circuited because when he looked at his hand, the blood dripped down the edge of his palm and into the mang of the person laying in the opened casket.

No.

Arjun staggered back.

No. No. No. No. No.

This cannot happen!

She cannot leave him!

She promised!

NO!

A deafening scream escaped his lips as Arjun fell on his knees beside the corpse of his wife. "Krishnaa!" Arjun patted her cheek as a humourless laugh burst through his chest, "Come on, are you kidding me? WAKE UP!"

In hopes that she would wake up and so will he from that nightmare.

His breath hitched as he took in her appearance. Her luscious lips had turned black-blue and chapped due to cold. Her skin was unnaturally pale. Bruises marked all over her body. Her long locks were stiff due to accumulation of frozen blood on it.

"Krishnaa," He name barely escaped his lips, his tongue felt heavy in his mouth. His arms wrapped around her shoulder as pulled her body in his lap. His hand held hers.
