Pandu's condition was worsening by each passing day, and there was nothing the Pandavs could do about the. The best of the vaidyas and medicines were tried but the poison was spreading rapidly like a wild fire.
"Hope you did not trouble my sister, Arjun." Vikodar narrowed his eyes at Arjun. "I had specially warned you that if my sister complains about you, I will break your bones."
The other four Pandavas returned to Indraprastha a few days later.
"You should not forget that your sister is my wife too, Bharata Bheem. Why will I trouble her?" Arjun scoffed, but his sarcasm went unnoticed by Bheem.
Draupadi grinned as she saw Bheem, her favorite brother-in-law. "Welcome back, Bharata Bheem!"
The welcome went on until a maid interrupted, "Pranipat Maharajo and Maharanio. Samragni Kunti has a message for you."
Arjun nodded as the maid handed him a scroll, "You can leave."
"It is about the last ritual, isn't it?" Yudhishthir asked as Arjun read the scroll, "Yes jyest"
Hastinapur had a tradition that the newly married couple has to go to a Shiv Parvati temple after their marriage, at the night. They will be accompanied by their parents or the guardian couple. But as Pandu was in a fragile state, Yudhishthir and Devika were now supposed to accompany Arjun and Draupadi.
"Very well," Yudhishthir said getting up from his seat. "We shall go today itself, after the sunset."

It was a new moon night. Yudhishthir, Devika, Arjun and Draupadi were at the foot of a hill. The temple was located on the top of the cliff. The four of them removed their footwear as they started climbing the steps of the hill. The newly wedded couple was in lead and the second one followed. It was a dark night and the light of earthen pots which were lit on either side of the stairs was the only source. The voices of unseen crickets could be heard along with the weird sounds of bats and owls. The hill was situated in the center of the dense forest of Indraprastha.
"It is creepy." Draupadi muttered but because of the silence in the surrounding, everyone heard it.
Devika chuckled, "This was the same thing I said to Arya when I came here for the first time." Yudhishthir smiled as he looked at his wife. His beautiful wife, the one he adored and cherished.
But little did they know that all four of them were being overseen by a certain pair of charcoal black eyes with a standing yellow iris. The owner of the eyes kept staring at them and then suddenly smirked as Draupadi set her foot on the two hundred and fiftieth step.
Draupadi's anklet shined against the little light of the earthen pots as she stepped on the two hundred and fiftieth step. "Ah!" Draupadi winced feeling a sharp pain in her foot. Arjun stopped his steps the moment he heard his beloved wince in pain. "What happened, Krishnaa?" He immediately crouched down and placed her feet on his thigh.
