It was as if Kirishima had somehow dropped into a movie.
He looked around, standing in what seemed like clouds, while a----was that a screen made of a cloud? ---in front of him flickered. As he stretched his hand out, touching the screen, he yelped as it swirled, sucking him in. He fell and as he landed, crouching down, he saw.
A small green-haired toddler screamed, her best friend engulfed by her hug as she squealed, "Kacchan is here!"
The blonde child laughed at his best friend, saying, "Hey Izuku! Let's play heroes together!"
The two children spent the rest of the evening, playing heroes together with their mothers. Their mothers chuckled as their persistent children made them play villains; at the end of the day, as Katsuki was about to leave, he turned towards his best friend and said, "Let's be heroes together!"
The green-haired child nodded excitedly back.
"Bakubro and Midobro?" Kirishima curiously said.
The clouds swirled and Kirishima fell through them again.
He stood up straight, in front of him was a children's playground.
Children were running around, some hanging around the jungle gym, the others playing football. A tiny blonde with spiky hair that he could recognize, was standing in front of a burnt, teary-eyed, tiny green-haired girl, other children surrounding them. Another child whimpered in pain behind her.
"I won't let you hurt him, Kacchan!" the green-haired child said.
"Huh, shitty Deku. Can't even defend yourself and you're trying to stand up for other useless people!" the familiar blonde sniped at the green-haired child.
The child stood there silently, tears flowing from her eyes.
The scene swirled yet again as he found himself at the same playground, this time watching an older Katsuki seething at Izuku.
"You bitch! What the fuck are you thinking wearing the boy's uniform! Bloody quirkless! Do you think you are cool as a boy?!" Katsuki's next explosion hit Izuku, who whimpered in pain. The other children snickered and as Katsuki stood back, they proceeded to either use their quirk on or their fists and legs to beat up the green-haired child. Tears were flowing down their face; their eyes were swollen and bruised, the explosion that Katsuki had sent their way had singed off their clothes where it had hit. Izuku's whimpers did not stop, a low "Ouch" and "Please stop" would escape their mouth at times. Katsuki just stood, arms crossed, until the others had had their fill and left the two children alone, Izuku coughing on the ground, clutching at their ribs in pain when Katsuki finally said.
"Die, Useless Deku."
Kirishima gasped as another memory swirled into existence in front of him.
This time, Izuku sat alone at the swings. It was raining, but they did not care. They just sat there, the rain soaking them as they stared forwards.
Their eyes looked so dead.
It was as if they had given up on everything.
A rude voice called out to them as they sat.
"Oi, shitty Deku. Ready to pay for what you did today?!" said Katsuki, his eyes held anger. The group of tormentors stood behind him.
Izuku looked back, eyes cloudy. "Nope."
Katsuki seethed, "What do you mean no?!"
"You deserved it." Said Izuku and they got up, grabbed their schoolbag, walking away.
Not before getting burnt by Katsuki.
Kirishima almost started hyperventilating as the clouds kept swirling. This time, he noticed, they were in a classroom.
It was the end of the school day. The Twelve-year-old Izuku sat at their desk, opting to complete the homework they had in the empty classroom they sat in, as they did on most days. The evening sunlight shone through the windows, the birds chirped on the tree outside the classroom's windows. While most students usually went off to their after-school clubs, Izuku who had not joined any, would use the free classrooms to complete their work and submit it to the teachers then and there. It kept them ahead of the classwork and many of the teachers who had been kind to them did not mind them sitting after school and working. It was one of the peaceful periods of the day and they reveled in the silence and peace.
After completing their work, they stood and went to their teachers, submitting their work. They then returned back to the empty classroom, they loved the ambiance of the room in the evening and the chirping of the birds. Instead of leaving after packing all their stuff up, they decided to sit and stare out of the window. They felt at peace.
But, it seemed that someone did not enjoy the fact that they felt peaceful.
Izuku found themselves on the floor, panting in fright, as Katsuki's kick sent them flying off of their seat.
"Hmm, now what is this?" he asked, and Izuku looked on in horror as he picked up the hero analysis notebook they had made, which had slipped out of their bag when the chair had toppled.
"Hero analysis for the Future," Katsuki said and the two behind him chuckled. "What does a quirkless Deku need this for? Bloody Freak."
Izuku, terrified, watched their hard work engulfed in flames and thrown out of the window.
"Just die. Who knows if you'll be reborn with a quirk this time," Katsuki continued. "Take a swan dive off the roof, you freak."
Later that night, Izuku stood at the ledge on the roof of their apartment complex, contemplating what Katsuki had said. Their arms were scratched bloody and red, eyes filled with tears and their resolve slowly hardened. Before they could take a step forwards, Inko's arms wrapped around them.
"NO IZUKU! STOP!"
The two cried on the roof that night, Inko's "I'm sorry," repeated again and again as Izuku sobbed into their mother's chest.
Kirishima stood again in the midst of the clouds, his own shock rendering him mute.
The darkness came back again, and this time he opened his eyes, a raging headache making him wince.
Lying in front of him was Izuku, barely breathing, Katsuki freaking out, tears in his own eyes as he tried waking up their green-haired classmate.
CHAPTER 9 ENDS.
**AN: Phew. That made me almost cry as I typed it out. To be clear, I just showed Kirishima's POV, but Katsuki saw them all as well. It'll be addressed in the next chapter. You also can see how invested I'm in this story as well. Hope that I delivered well. Stay tuned for the next!**
