For the first time in a long time, Izuku had woken up excited.

It was his birthday!

Izuku had been up ever since six in the morning but had refrained from going downstairs. He knew the class would be running around then, setting up the surprise he already knew a bit about. A wide smile graced his face, he was happy. He hadn't felt that in a while, and it felt great to the green-haired bean.

He instead decided on getting ready, after a quick shower in his room's bathroom, he changed into his favorite rainbow-colored binder, wearing a comfortable sweatshirt over it and pairing it with his favorite pair of boy shorts. Opting to waste a little bit more time, he decided to check his phone, especially the social media that he had. After perusing through his secret Instagram account he used to keep a tab over his favorite heroes' activities, he decided to check the messages in his family's group chat, one that Inko had still let be, even though his father barely interacted with them there. He smiled as he read his mother's birthday wishes for him and took a deep breath after seeing his father reply back with his own birthday wishes.

He had then decided to snap a picture of himself, and send it onto the group chat.

His mother had replied with heart emoticons, gushing over how good her son looked. His father, however,

Father: What in the hell are you wearing?

Izuku stiffened when he read the message.

His parents then went on to converse between them, Izuku reading on.

Mom: What do you mean Hisashi?

Father: What are you asking that for? Her clothes are clearly not what she's supposed to be wearing!

Mom: Hisashi! How many times do I have to tell you that our son doesn't like wearing girl clothes on the days he is presenting as a boy?!

Father: Don't hit me with that bullshit. We brought a daughter into this world, not a son!

Izuku's breath caught in his throat as his father continued.

Father: I do not have a son. Get that delusion out of your head Inko!

Mom: Hisashi!

Father: If Izuku can't yet accept that she is my daughter and my daughter only, then she can go to hell.

Izuku's tears had started flowing, deciding to reply then.

Izuku: When will you finally accept that I am a gender-fluid person dad?

Father: Never! I cannot have a child who is quirkless and a freak!

Izuku's eyes steeled in anger as he typed back.

Izuku: Stop calling me quirkless.

Father: Why?! You already know you are! I will not have a child like you!

Izuku: You really are a bastard. I already got to know about Emote three years ago.

Hisashi had not responded for a while until his next message came.

Father: Like I care. Go die in a ditch. I have no child. It died the day it was born.

**Izuku has changed your nickname to "Bastard."**

Bastard: What the fuck?!

Izuku: That's what you are to me. Don't ever talk to me again.

Bastard: Fuck you, you abomination!

During the next hour, Izuku's phone pinged constantly, as Hisashi sent indignant message after indignant message, while Inko countered them, Izuku had stopped replying. His breaths came in fast and deep, unable to calm down, Izuku decided to get some fresh air. He rushed out of his room, wanting to get to the nearest training area to let out his frustration on another innocent tree.

He had totally forgotten that a party for him was being organized downstairs.

When he appeared at the bottom of the stairs towards the entrance of the common room, he paused in his tracks. He blinked the tears out his eyes as everyone from his class and his teachers yelled out "Happy Birthday Izuku!"; he could not even comprehend the fact that the whole room was decked out in streamers and balloons, or the fact piñatas hung around the room. He noticed the cake that Sato had so excitedly and expertly prepared, as well as the fact that the smell of his favorite Katsudon was wafting through the air.

As much as he wanted to, he couldn't. The negative emotions were taking over.

"It's not my birthday, I'm sorry." He finally got out.

The resulting silence in the room was almost deafening. Everyone stood in shock as they realized Izuku was being serious. Izuku saw Katsuki look back at him, he was the only one who somehow knew something had happened. Izuku could not say anything; when Katsuki finally said out.

"What do you mean?! Did something happen? What happened?!" Katsuki's voice for the first time held concern, something Izuku hadn't heard within his voice since they had been kids.

The rest of the class too looked on in concern, their eyes all trained on Izuku who stood still. Aizawa and All Might both stepped forwards towards their student, worry evident on their faces. Before another word could be said, Izuku's phone, which was clutched hard in his hand, started ringing. It rang for a few seconds before Uraraka said.

"Izuku-Kun, that's your phone." Her voice came out slow and filled with unease.

Izuku lifted the hand his phone was in, staring at the screen, his finger of its own accord swiping through the screen, picking up the call. What he didn't register, that he, in his normal habit of doing it, had also tapped the speaker icon, allowing everyone to hear what came after the call was received.

"You bitch! Respond to my messages! If you are still going to be a stubborn child and not accept that you are just my daughter, then go die!" Hisashi's voice snarled through the phone.

Izuku's hand trembled and the phone fell, as it slipped through the hold of his hand.

Everyone had heard.

Izuku's surroundings suddenly felt blurry.

He only snapped out when another furious voice rang out.

"You son of a bitch! Who the fuck says that to their only child?!" Katsuki burst at the phone, now held in his own hand.

At that very moment, Izuku started to hyperventilate.
