It's Okay, I'm Not Okay.

Chapter 12: The Birthday.

July was soon upon the class. With July, came the heat of the summer.

The class had been chilling in the common room on the first, it being a Saturday and the weekend, when Shinsou had casually revealed it was his birthday after a parcel containing a gift from his parents had been delivered to the dorms.

"It is my brother's birthday too, today." Todoroki stated.

"Wait, Shinsou is your brother?" asked Denki innocently, causing some to laugh out loud and others to shake their heads in amusement.

The chaos in the dorms was at an all-time high.

Many of the students had been surprised and some felt guilty; they had been classmates for two months now and many didn't know when the birthdays of their comrades were. The girls gasped when Katsuki and Denki had shrugged and stated their birthdays had already passed days ago; while many were busy wishing Shinsou on his birthday.

Izuku sat in a corner, trying not to be noticed as Sato brought in a cake that he had anyways been preparing, all iced up and "Happy Birthday Shinsou" written in cursive with purple frosting. Shinsou blew the lonely candle as the others sang "Happy Birthday" and then the whole class attacked the cake. As things settled down, the class's conversation led to everyone's birthdates, Hagakure making sure no one was left out.

When it had been Izuku's turn, he decided to not say anything, instead "I'm sorry, I just remembered something. Please excuse me."

Needless to say, the rest had been disappointed when he hadn't shared.

"Oh man," said Mina, after he had left the common room. "He at least could have told us his birthdate."

The rest of the class nodded back, agreeing.

Katsuki who had been quiet took a deep breath, "I already know when it is, Pinky."

The entire class faced Katsuki, their expectant stares making him uncomfortable before Todoroki said.

"Oh, do share Bakugou."

The class had started looking back and forth between the two as Katsuki spoke back.

"Why should I tell you, Icyhot?!" he said, making Kirishima, Denki, and Sero smack their foreheads at his defensive side.

"Come on Bakugou," this time Asui quipped, "We are all his friends, Kero."

Looking at both the Bakusquad and the Izuku squad, with the rest of the class staring at him, he puffed out, "The fifteenth of this month."

There was a moment of silence before the class burst.

"WHAATTTTTTT! THAT'S IN TWO WEEKS." Screamed Hagakure.

"We almost missed Shinsou's birthday, we aren't gonna miss Midobabe's!" said Mina.

Shinsou inserted "I don't mind. Though I'd like it if we celebrated Izuku's. He's helped me out a lot."

"After everything he's gone through recently, he deserves a day of fun!" this time it was Iida, his arms robotically chopping through the air.

Kouda signed, which Iida translated, "He's been really kind to me. I'd like to do something for him too."

Shouji, Tokoyami, and Ojiro nodded at Kouda's words.

Momo and Jirou too, put in their agreement.

Izuku, who was hearing it all from his secret perch on the stairs, sighed. He wasn't gonna get out of this, was he?

The next two weeks went by faster than the students thought they would, with the term-end exams being conducted. The written papers had gone relatively easy for Izuku, the intelligence part of his quirk of course helped him memorize the syllabus faster than anyone else. As the written exams came to a close, the practical exams had begun a day later, Izuku had been partnered up with Katsuki against All Might, and the goal was to either capture their teacher or successfully escape. Izuku had been surprised when Katsuki had told him to take the lead and the two had passed the exam with perfect teamwork. Katsuki had not yet approached him with an apology, but he could see that Katsuki was at the least trying to. Izuku had decided to give him the benefit of the doubt for the meantime.

The rest of the class too, had in the meantime, secretly met up behind Izuku's back, trying to set up the surprise for Izuku's birthday. Izuku, who would sometimes catch them planning, pretended not to know, any kind of attention still made him uncomfortable and knowing that if he had revealed his birthday, he would have received unwanted attention. He rubbed his forehead, somehow it was inevitable. The others were not going to stop, even if he asked them to. So he gave in to his fate, accepting that he would be getting a party. Maybe, for the first time in a while, he would actually have some fun. The idea had been so appealing, that he now looked forward to the day. Oh, if he knew.

When the day dawned, the dorms were filled with excitement and cheer.

Each and every one of Izuku's class were excited, many had made custom gifts, some with the help of Momo's quirk. Decorations were being put up, the class assured that they had the time to do put them up as well, as Izuku tended to sleep in on the weekends. Aizawa, All Might, Nezu, as well as Present Mic, and Midnight had been invited to the party. The students decided on a full-day fiesta for the theme and had even brought in piñatas containing sweets, hanging them around the common area for Izuku to break later on. Sato had prepared a two-tiered cake for the occasion and Katsuki and the others had prepared the elements for Katsudon. Katsuki had another special gift prepared for Izuku as well, and butterflies flew in his stomach as his nervousness took over him as it was almost time for Izuku to wake up and come down.

When Izuku appeared, everyone shouted out "Happy Birthday Izuku!" with their cheers accompanying.

That was when Katsuki realized something was wrong.

Tear streaks were evident on Izuku's face, his face emotionless. The words he then spoke, surprised everyone.

"It's not my birthday, I'm sorry."
