Heavy rain poured on the window of the orphanage.
After a month of ignoring Axl and telling him that I didn't want to live there anymore.
I didn't want to ruin his life anymore.
He sent me away.
Very told me that she and Natalia couldn't come. They had found a home where they felt truly loved and wouldn't leave it for the world or for me.
I still went to school and was driven by one of the Nanny's to Jeff's Coffee where I worked with Xavier.
The British boy had stopped speaking to me and only looks at me with sorrow in his eyes as if he really did feel something for me.
Time went by slowly now that I had left Axl's place.
And I'm now wondering if I had made the right decision.
I was working at the coffee shop with I saw two familiar faces.
Slash and Izzy walked into the shop and spotted me.
"Logan! I knew you'd still be here," Slash said.
"Yeah, I'm still here," I said.
"Listen. I know you don't want to be in Axl's home anymore. But I want you to know he misses you so much," Slash said.
"I'll think about it okay."
And now I was lying in bed thinking about it. Thinking about Axl, Valery, and Natalia and how they all must miss me so much.
I miss them too.
I miss the laughs I shared with my sister's and the long nightly conversations I'd have with Axl.
Sometimes they were about how our day went, music, or most importantly family and suffering.
I missed talking and the next day as I walked into the coffee shop I decided to talk to Xavier.
"Good morning, Xavier," I said putting my apron on.
He looked at me with wide eyes like he couldn't believe I would speak to him.
"Hey, Logan," he said smiling sheepishly.
I'll admit he was kind of cute.
"Life isn't so great any more, Xavier," I sighed leaning against the counter.
"Yeah, tell me about it," Xavier said softly as he stood behind me.
"I don't know, I left Axl's place because I felt like I was ruining his life. But Slash and Izzy came by and told me he missed me," I said. "And I miss him and my sisters too. I miss talking to someone. And reading. Oh they don't have good books at the orphanage. They only have the Bible. But I don't wanna read a Bible that isn't my dad's. I wanna finish what he had started and read exactly like he did. But I can't do that if I have another Bible. Besides, a Bible isn't the kind of book you engrossed in. It's a book you read before bed."
"What kind of books do you like, Logan?" Xavier asked. "I like classics. I wanna read Frankenstein. I've never read it before," I said.
Xavier smiled at me and was about to say something when a customer came in.
He was a tall sixteen year old boy with blonde hair and brown eyes that one could get lost in.
"Hey, cutie," he said in a deep voice as he leaned against the counter beside me.
I blushed and Xavier ran off in the back.
"How about a date?" Asked the boy. "Oh I don't know, I'll think about it," I said.
He smiled. "Well, that's all I have asked of you. I must go now see you tomorrow, baby boy," he said.
Once he left I ran off to where I saw Xavier go. The bathroom. I walked in and saw him to his legs to his chest sobbing his heart out.
"Xavier, are you okay?" I asked sitting beside and wrapping my small warm arms around his shaking body.
"I fucked it," Xavier said. "What?" I asked. "I fucked up. You'll never be mine," Xavier mumbled as more tears ran down his face.
"You really do love me," I said. "Of course, I loved you from the second you want through the door," Xavier said. "But you can't be with a boy," I said pulling away from him. "I haven't come to terms with my sexuality yet. But I want to be with you, Logan, you're perfect," Xavier said.
"Yeah?" I asked.
"Yeah."
I put my forefinger and thumb underneath Xavier's chin and tilted his head up to look at me.
"No, playing with my heart pretty boy," I said. He pulled me into his lap and placed his hand softly around my throat.
That was the Xavier I always knew.
He pulled me closer to him and softly pecked my lips. His hand found it's way into my hair and entangled itself I to the sea of black threads.
He kissed me again and gripped my hip.
I closed the gap between us and kissed his lips without pulling away.
We kissed for a while before we heard the bell ding signalling a customer had walked in.
"So, babe, wanna go on a date?" Xavier asked.
"Sure," I said pecking his head. "But as I said don't play with my heart."
"I'll protect you and your heart for as long as I live," Xavier said rising to his feet and grabbing my hand and leading me away.
There at the counter I saw no one other than Axl.
"Axl!" I cried tearing away from Xavier and jumping over to counter to embrace Axl in a tight hug.
"Slash told me you were here," Axl said rubbing my back.
He felt extremely skinny not like he did the last time I had hugged him a sorrowful goodbye.
"I missed you, Logan, please come back," Axl said. "I will. I promise!" I said.
That day was the happiest day a boy could've ever had.
And I will cherish it forever.
