Yuánfèn (缘分)

Chapter 7

Shen Yue returns from lunch and goes straight to the meeting room with Dee Shu and Xiao Zhan.

"I don't believe people will care about this rumor, Dee Shu." Xiao Zhan says trying to calm down Shen Yue's manager.

"Tsk! Don't try to smooth things over," the woman gets up from her chair and starts pacing, "That's how a rumor gets big. People start saying things they think exist and when we realize, it has already spread far and wide."

"I'm not trying to belittle anything, I just think it's irrelevant." he explains.

The woman stops walking and turns her attention to Shen Yue who remains with her eyes on the cell phone, unwilling to argue about the gossip in question. "Aren't you going to say anything?" she asks.

Shen Yue looks at Dee Shu and then at Xiao Zhan with dismay, "I don't want to talk about it." She gets up, puts her cell phone in her bag and goes to Dee Shu, "I thought this was another rumor created by the two of you."

"Unbelievable!" Dee Shu says with annoyance, "Everything we do is for the sake of your career. You don't need anyone investigating your life right now or..."

"You don't need to remind me of this!" she responds upset.

"Yue, what Dee Shu does is thinking about your future," Xiao Zhan approaches the two women, trying to calm them down, "the rumors we create are to favor you and not to harm you."

"I need to get some air, I'm sorry!" Shen Yue turns his back on them and leaves the room.

"We haven't finished the conversation... Get back here!" Dee Shu screams.

Shen Yue is sitting in the garden when someone approaches her.

"Mrs. Shen?" Gena calls her, "are you alright?"

"Hmm?!" she is startled when she sees the woman calling her name.

"I want to apologize for Ms. Huang's attitude earlier."

"Oh, don't worry. I'm used to it." Shen Yue smiles at the woman who comes a little closer to her.

"Mrs. Shen, may I tell you a secret?" Gena asks.

"A secret?" she responds confused.

"I'm part of your fan club," Gena says shyly.

"Wow! Seriously?!" Shen Yue responds beaming. "But why is it a secret?"

The woman is a little embarrassed, "it's because of Mrs. Huang."

Shen Yue watches the young woman with curiosity, while Genna remains silent. "Genna come, sit here!"

Genna adjusts her glasses and with a gentle smile, she takes a seat next to Shen Yue.

"Do not worry! I won't say anything about it." Shen Yue says.

"Ms. Huang has an employment contract with us. I want to avoid hassles."

"I know how difficult she can be sometimes and..." Shen Yue hesitates and Genna stares at her waiting for her to finish her sentence.

"You may speak Mrs. Shen."

"Call me Yue," she says gently.

"So, Yue, what do you want to know?" Genna insists.

"Well... is she dating Wang He Di?" she says "you don't have to answer if you don't want to".

Genna smiles and watches Shen Yue. "Are you interested in him?"

"Me?! Oh no. I wouldn't fall in love with someone that stupid."

"He's a kind person, Yue."

"Maybe he's polite to other people. But, with me it's different."

"Did you guys already know each other?" Genna asks.

"Not personally. But I've heard some actresses talking about his work."

The woman frowns confused. "Well, he's single. But Ms. Huang is trying to win him over."

"I wish her luck. They make a perfect couple, especially when it comes to arrogance." Shen Yue scoffs.

Genna smiles, "I need to go now."

Shen Yue nods and Genna says goodbye with a smile. She realizes that, behind her glasses and understated makeup, Genna really is beautiful. She is as tall as Huang Tao and Annie Sun. Her slender body does not go unnoticed in the crowd.

As she watches Genna disappear, a group of guys catch her eye. Wang He Di enters the garden with Xize, Connor, Kuan and a very handsome young man whom she immediately recognizes. He's chatting excitedly with his friends, but when he sees her sitting up ahead, his expression changes. He gets serious and looks at her as if her presence is unpleasant. She laughs at his attitude, and decides to tease him. Shen Yue gets up and walks towards them. Everyone looks at her sympathetically, but Wang He Di keeps his eyes cool.

"Hey guys!" she greets the group of guys with a charming smile, but ignores Wang He Di completely.
