Wang He Di arrives at the restaurant 15 minutes early. Having lunch with his father is not the most exciting thing in the world, but he is curious to know the reason for this meeting. He takes out his cell phone and checks the weibo uninterestedly, but one rumor in particular catches his attention.
"Shen Yue!" he whispers her name intrigued.
"What are you looking at so focused?" a girl asks with curiosity
"Zi Wei?!" he says surprised.
"Di, I miss you!" the girl hugs him happily.
"You're not bad Di!" a young man as handsome as he is, approaches and hugs him too.
"What are you doing here?"
"We came to try to make a deal," Zi Wei points to a tall, strong man, standing at the entrance to the restaurant, talking to a waiter.
Wang He Di gives the man a grumpy look and sits down at the table again, "Make a deal? For what?"
Zi Wei tosses her long black hair to the side and sits down next to him, "Anyu is getting married," she replies with bright eyes.
"Is this serious, brother?"
Anyu nods. "We asked our father to try to make it up to you."
Wang He Di is silent when he sees the man walking towards them. He starts to feel uncomfortable with the date.
"I think you already know why we're here," he says in a firm voice. "How are you, Di?"
Wang He Di casts a look at Zi wei and Anyu, trying not to disappoint the brother and sister, "I'm fine,"
"Shall we order the food?" Zi Wei suggests, "I'm starving!"
Wang He Di watches his father silently inspecting the menu, while Anyu and Zi Wei discuss whether to choose fish or sweet and sour pork. He has the same expression as two years ago. Wang He Di clearly remembers the day Wang Hui called him in for a conversation, which resulted in a disagreement that has lasted for two years.
"You're thinner, aren't you eating right?" Wang Hui asks without taking his eyes off the menu.
"I already told you I'm fine, Dad."
"Are you dating, Di?" Anyu says smiling.
"I don't have time to date right now." Wang He Di places the menu on the table and faces his brother, "What's the deal?"
Anyu and Zi Wei look at each other knowingly. "I want you to be my best man at the wedding," Anyu replies.
Wang He Di frowns and turns to Wang Hui, "but I'm not family..."
"Excuse me," the waiter interrupts, "have you guys decided what to order?"
"Zong Zi and Chicken Gong Bao for me." Wang Hui answers without hesitation.
"The same for me." Anyu says next.
"Shrimp chow mein for me." says Zi Wei, with a big smile.
Wang He Di picks up the menu again while trying to calm down. He has so much to say, but he knows this is not the right time. Today he needs to control his frustration, after all his brothers don't deserve him to screw it up. "Sweet and sour pork for me," he replies.
The waiter takes the order and leaves.
"Your brother will be married in four months," begins Wang Hui, "I can't forget about the past, but I can make an effort for him..."
"Effort?!" Wang He Di says incredulously.
"Dad, what do we agree?" Zi Wei asks trying to avoid any kind of misunderstanding.
The man looks fondly at his daughter who is sitting between the two brothers and relents. "Di, your brother wants everyone together on his wedding day, so we're here."
"I want you to be my godfather," Anyu insists.
"What about the rule not to mention to anyone that I'm your child?" Wang He Di asks hurt, "Now can I tell people that you are my father and that Zi Wei and Anyu are my brothers?"
an awkward silence takes over the place. The food is served and once again, Zi Wei is relieved to see the waiter, who for the second time appears at the right time.
"I miss you, Di!" Zi Wei says holding her brother's hand.
"Me too," he smiles. "And what's the deal?"
"We're going to live like a normal family until Anyu's wedding day."
"What?" Wang He Di looks at his father and then his brothers in surprise, "I don't understand."
"During this time, let's not talk about the past," Wang Hui continues, "you can go home as many times as you like and you are allowed to say that Zi Wei and Anyu are your brothers."
"I always wanted to tell all my friends that I have another beautiful brother!" Zi Wei laughs.
"Hmm?!" he asks.
"The we'll talk about the Wang family's future." Thoughtfully, Wang He Di looks at his father, who is quietly eating.
"Where is my mother?" he asks.
Anyu exchanges a look with his father, as if warning him to be careful with his words.
"She doesn't feel well." Wang Hui answers without looking at his son.
Wang He Di pretends to believe it and changes the subject, "Anyu, who is your bride?"
"Oh, I'm going to show you a picture of her," he takes out his cell phone and shows him the bride's picture excitedly,
Wang He Di widens his eyes, "Annie Sun?!"
"Do you know her?" Zi Wei questions.
"She's famous, Zi Wei, of course he knows her." Anyu explains.
"I know her, but it's not because she's famous."
"It is not?!" Anyu asks with curiosity.
"I work with her." he laughs.
"What a coincidence!" Zi Wei exclaims.
"That's all the more reason for you to agree to be my best man at the wedding." Anyu speaks and smiles.
"Okay, I accept!"
"I knew I could count on you, brother." Anyu shakes Wang He Di's hand in satisfaction.
"I'm sure these four months will be the best of my life!" Zi Wei says happily.
Wang He Di agrees without saying anything. He really feels happy to be able to get along with his brothers again, but he can't say the same about his father. He knows Wang Hui is doing this because he loves Wang Anyu and Zi Wei, just for them.
